I've heard mixed reviews on using a sock for snow / salt. The problem is, they're not actually water-tight so anything that does work it's way in there is now trapped in there in a nice, warm climate to eat away at your coilovers. So, unless you remove it frequently for cleaning, it's sort of counter-productive.

From what I read, he sells out instantly. I ended up getting mine from ebay because I didn't want to wait.

Honestly.. There is no real way to protect your coilovers in this region. I have had coilovers on three of my past cars and on my current evo. I have tried the socks, wax and fluid film type material to even plastidipping them. The problem isn't the housing it's the threaded section on the coilover that you should be concerned about. Rocks/salt/sand that get in there makes it a nightmare to adjust in the future. I actually load my evo up with a dry lubricant then a handful of thick grease around the threaded parts every fall and hand cleaned it all off in the spring time. Then I just stopped driving it in the winter.

Have you tried heavily waxing the threads, or cosmoline? I would think a thick coat of wax would do the trick.

I used a rim wax that I used to use when I did detailing.

No, screw that crap, I mean like ski wax. A big ole block of wax rubbed against the threads so you end up with like 1/8-1/4" build up.

Never thought about that, I would imagine it would be a bitch to clean up when you go to adjust it unless you melt it off... But then again if you just set it and forget it I guess this would be a good solution.

Exactly, you just melt if off or take a pressure washer to it. Ski wax would melt off with just a hair drier, it has a relatively low melting point. It's also soft, so I'm sure you could just spin the seat right through it, it wouldn't gunk up the threads.

Duct Tape the threads. A friend used to do that with some good luck.

Hey all, my wife and I are driving up to NH tomorrow (and Sunday) from Dallas. We are aiming to avoid NYC by 84 to Hartford then getting on 91. Anyone aware of any major construction or anything up that way that would make that un-advisable?

Its a night and day difference. That's exactly the upgrade I went from. The HF is great for bike tires and small things, but literally took ten minutes to add 3 lbs of pressure to my truck tire. The ARB functions as advertised, 10lbs to 35 lbs in about 2 minutes.
I do think there are other brands bout there that will do the job for less, Viair, the red one that Cam has, and there's another brand called volt air. Those all hook up to the battery.
I liked the idea of having it mounted and wanted a little project to work on.:D

Not sure where you'll be picking up 84 but if you are getting on it in PA from I380, there's some construction in the Poconos which moves along ok and then in Waterbury CT - typically a 10-20 min delay there. If you coming up from Jersey area, I'd take 287 as 'RR2' noted then to I684 to I84. You'll still hit Waterbury CT construction area.

Thanks for the feedback which arb did you go with the dualie or single? I'm on the fence about the arb pump or one of the viair 450 with automatic shutoff.
