I went from an 05 Sport DCLB to a 12 Limited Tundra back to a 16 Sport DCLB. My wallet doesn't miss the 5.7L V8.

Most of the "extras" you could always install later if you really wanted them. if the price is better for you, dont let someone elses opinion stop you, it is your money.

No experience with loaded Tacoma.... but I went from a 08 Chevy 2500 duramax crew cab to my 4cyl 5 speed Tacoma and love the trade!!! Do you NEED THE POWER? Or just want the power? I haven't he'd less power than I NEED ONE SINGLE TIME!!! My duramax had custom tunes made around 450 hp 900 tq but honestly useless except a coupe times a year!! I've also got a 08 Tahoe that is more than capable for towing... like I said I won't go back to anything but I4 5speed for every day driving!!!

Why? For everyday driving the 4 with a 5MT is a nice combo. I liked mine, would buy again.

You don't think 900ft lb of torque to 2.7l is a downgrade ?

Not when it won't fit down a two-track to my favorite trout stream. ;)

i dont see how anyone could drive a 3rd gen with a 4 cylinder, the 6 is lackluster enough in the power department IMO

I have owned 3 4 cylinders in the past. they are great off road trucks. if you want fast and power they are not the truck for you but they will take you anywhere you want to go.

A few listed in the signature
I went from a fully loaded Acura TSX with a sunroof and leather to a 2017 TRD Off Road SB with no sunroof and cloth seats.

I have zero regrets as a sunroof was nice but unnecessary and leather is a hell of a lot more maintenance. I do have heated seats in the truck though. They are way hotter than the TSXs.

Then you just need to drive a 2.7 for ten years or so, the 3rd gen will feel like a rocket! ;)
