"Range" is a tough complaint to put on Toyota. Especially if you're not willing to carry extra fuel. I understand though. I wouldn't want fuel near my hunting dogs either. In Toyota's defense, "estimated" MPG was disclosed to you prior to purchase. 16/17 mpg seems a little low. My TRD is all stock, not broken-in, and gets 18 mpg 100% city. I hope to get more. And I hope to come to Big Sky this winter/spring!!!

Estimated mileage is far short of actual in a lot of cases with the Tacoma. The unfortunate reality is that this drivetrain really blows. It's really, really sad when a full size GMC with a V8 gets better mileage. Pathetic, actually.

Will you ever recoup your money for the high upfront cost of the diesel? In
addition, the long term durability of the GM twins is questionable. Look at
the Consumer reports on 5 year old GM twins (even though they are the previous
gens, I'm sure they will be the same for the new ones).

I do wonder what it's like being a GM owner and then seeing a 20% off sale on all current model year vehicles... it's got to be a kick in the pants for them

When it comes down to your monthly payment - a 20% off sale moves a lot of the gussied up full-sized, Silverado Texas Edition off the dealer lots around here.

yah but what about the guy who bought it a month prior and has a 20% (give or take) monthly payment after he thought he got a "good deal"
I just don't like the games with the pricing of their vehicles... I'm "toyotally" biased, but I think that Toyota is a bit more even keeled on their pricing strategies

My local dealer has 2016 F-150 XLT super cabs priced at $34,000-ish right now. That's pretty reasonable for a full sized, moderately equipped truck.

The truck has a 4 cylinder diesel. The HAND WRITTEN write up be the salesperson, is incorrect on the 6 cylinder part. I have verified it has the diesel on their website with pictures , as well as on the GMC website by looking at the window sticker. Geeze, ya'll get butthurt pretty easy on here. I'm not bashing the Tacoma, it's a fine truck, especially off-road. I think the GMC is a better match for ME, and I'm only looking for people that actually know something about the diesel engine. The rest can get defensive and pick apart the decision, but at the end of the day it's ME that's going to drive it and make the payments. I'm heading up there today to take delivery, and I'll see if it's a real deal or not.

GM is bringing a diesel option to the new Cruze and Equinox. Jeep is supposed to put the eco-diesel in the Jeep. It's about time we had some diesel options in the US. I don't know why no one has put a diesel in a hybrid. I'm sure some engineer can tell me why, but it seems like a better fit than a gas hybrid, other than the cost of the diesel over the gas engine. A Tacoma with a diesel would be the perfect truck.

but wheres the manual transmissions? the canyon zr2 would be a serious contender if it had a MT option but only offering it with only an 8 speed? nfg

I'm a manual fan, but we are the huge minority. When automatics started getting better fuel economy than the manuals, that was the end. To Toyota's credit, they are the only truck that I know of, that offers a manual transmission in a upper trim level truck. It's hard to find a stick shift in even Corvette's and Porsche's. If I wasn't in bumper to bumper traffic all day, I would go with a manual. I had a manual 2011 Infiniti G37 sedan and loved it. Except in traffic.

just think the MT is so helpful offroad. nice to be able to adjust wheel torque and speed separately. i know the days of proper 3 pedal cars are dieing. in 2 years you will not be able to buy a ferrari that isnt an automatic hybrid. the world is truely ending
