Sue agreed with what the others were saying. She suggested changing the objective to something more like this and removing the oldest jobs you had noted. She felt the job hopping may work against you even though it is what put you through school. She suggested Google "resume" and you can find templates and advise.

Looking good. If I may suggest, DrPie already mentioned that you might want to quantify your achievements. I would agree with him. Here is an example that I have used for making it sound like something was achieved at the end of the day and that I am beneficial to hire:

Based on expertise and performance, selected to mentor 2 employees over a 4 month period resulting in them becoming self reliant in the industry and a key to the teams' success

If you start with what you have done then explain the benefits, it makes your statements sound stronger. I would give this a shot on at least one bullet for every job you are going to list.

Hope this helps and keep plucking at it... it only gets better the more you work on it.

tweak objective to be more specific to the job/industry you are applying for, and put your Honeywell experience to the top, or higher

i would put skills after the experience .... also what chris says objective should be your real objective .. .it catches more attention if its honest

since i am in the Hospitality industry i would put something like this "
To utilize my extraordinary skills and background in the hospitality industry and grow my career in what I know and do best."

I disagree - When i interview, I look at details like what the person is made off. I know its hard to work in fast food industry or wal mart type places and if someone worked there in their past, they know how to deal with BS. They are strong and when it comes to work they are able to do whatever it takes even if its pizza delivery or flipping burgers... i started off cooking Tacos and I’m proud of it. That’s what made me strong and no harm in putting that in your resume.. .Just my personal opinion.

You gotta approach your resume like a date. Want some action? What do you have to offer? You have 15 seconds to make an impression, do it with one page only, leave out the fluff.

Everyone wants a mutally beneficial gig, what do you do? Too generic. Must be something such as seeking a law enforcement position, money manager, etc.

Keep it one page. No need to list a community college education, just the BS. And a short paragraph on what you did at each gig followed by bullet points, not all of them.

Remove the boy scout stuff. What can you fix or solve for your employer?

Your future employer can pick and choose, make it so they choose you.

Then sign up for linkedin.com and start making connections for this resume of yours. Good luck.

I choose to remove the Objective part, as others have already mentioned. If they have my resume, they know what my objective is.

I'm a little confused so please bare with me, wouldn't I add something like:
"Based on expertise and performance, selected to mentor 2 employees over a 4 month period resulting in them becoming self reliant in the industry and a key to the teams' success" in a cover letter?

Remember you are looking to impress people. Make sure you are specific. Be sure to include things that make you the person that they should hire. Each job should have a separate resume tweaked specifically for the position that you are wanting to get hired for. Your current objective needs to be very specific. If you want to add in a career goal objective that is a little more vague that would be fine. Remember always include a cover letter to a specific person and keep your resume under 2 pages whenever possible.

Cover letters are for introducing yourself and really selling you to a person. Start vague and narrow down your objectives. A cover letter should not be more than a page. Remember you are trying to sell yourself to them not make them bored to death reading pages about some guy they dont know.

Ok so I have taken peoples advice and started adjusting my Resume to the requirements.

I've written a cover letter for one job so far, and others don't allow for this.

Is there any more help someone could provide me with drafting cover letters? I don't want to be long winded but still want to show the star that I am lol.

I regularly review resumes and interview for tech jobs. I'm subscribing to this thread as a reminder to myself to review your info some time this weekend. Can't help too much while I'm at work.

Thanks man I really appreciate it. My base resume is on page one, and I've been tailored to each application.

Here is my attempt at a Cover letter, below you will find the requirements for the job and the points I'm trying to cover in the letter.

Dear Coash and Coash:

Hello, my name is Taylor Bxxx and I am a graduating student from ASU in the Justice Studies program. I am in the process of looking for a career in the field of justice and law and came across the position within your office. I was very excited to see you were looking for someone in the field my career path is moving, I feel that I would be a well qualified candidate for this position based on my educational background and real world work experience.

In my field of study I have completed several pre-law classes that have helped shape my knowledge of the legal system and set me apart from many of my colleagues. Additionally, I have also had the chance to work on legal contracts with an internship at Honeywell, where it was my responsibility to review them for my manager before being signed. In most of my positions, I have been given tasks to work on with little or no supervision and have met the regular deadlines set. In my recent job with the USDA Tonto National Forest, I was assigned the task of creating an Excel template for the Arizona Council for Recreational and Tourism (ACERT) map update. Working within a team of members, I was instrumental in coordinating 6 national forest updates accurately and on time.

Based on my recent accomplishments and education, I feel I would be a valuable asset in your office because of the experience in the customer service industry and my ability to lean and adapt quickly to new and changing environments. Also, I feel that as an employee I could learn much more about the legal system from your company and would gain valuable experience for my career in the legal system.

I would like to discuss my qualification for this position with you further in an interview, please contact me at 480-555-5555 or somethingcatchy@abc.com (not my real e-mail) so that we could meet at your earliest convenience.

Best regards,

The cover letter should reveal things about you that a resume can't,

·Reveal what you know about the hiring company to show that you actually have a clue about who they are and what they do. This helps them picture you fitting in rather than just being on a job-fishing expedition.

Well I just wanted to give this an update: After much reviewing and many edits, I have come up with what I think is a decent resume. I actually have an interview with University of Phoenix in a call center. Not what I wanted, but what has been provided and in this market I can't be too choosy right?
