Tire carrier is An option. Look on Chevrolet website.

That '70's celica is so unattractive I don't care if it last forever

As a matter of fact, the Toyota dealer I bought my Tacoma from has a beautiful 1940 something Pontiac. He started as a Pontiac dealer way back and ended up buying back the very first car he sold. So to answer your question, yes GM has cars they are proud of (as I'm sure every manufacturer does).

I agree other manufacturers make good vehicles as well, every manufacturer has vehicles that are crap even toyota.

My 2012 tacoma made it to 53k before I had a major failure, and no help from toyota even though I was still under power train and emission warranty. so maybe I just don't get all the toyota hype. I mean I like the truck but I don't feel itsb the best. I bought it hoping it would be, just didn't live up to the hype.

The zr2 looks to be a great truck and if it does anything will make the tacoma an even better truck. The competition is closing on on toyota and they will be forced to play there hand.

The ZR2 will have FRONT and rear lockers and a deisel option but who knows what that will do to the price tag.

So you happened across a Toyota Dealer who had a 70's era Cellica sitting in it, is that earth shattering? Why would anyone waste valuable showroom space with a chevette, when there are way more cooler cars the could use to get the same point across. Why stop at just one, why not fill it with examples of past glory? Here's my local dealer, showing off 20-50 year old cars (Parisienne's, Nova's family cars of their day) & a few Higher Perf models, doesn't really prove anything...Notice they park the New Colorado outside!

Those Buick GNX's would be worth a lot. Fast cars. But is gm proud of them? LMFAO! Toyota doesn't hold a candle to GM when it comes to cars. The Tacoma, I agree 100% that they are more sought after than any domestic 1/4 ton, well the typhoon and cyclone were pretty cool but still...

Oh it's too late for a pissin contest. Lol

It'll be Nice to see when the journalists get ahold of a zr2 and give it a good shake down/comparison to the Trd pro.

I'd love to see that. The ZR2 looks awesome on paper. But the proof will be in the pudding and the price

The price is the big thing. Trd pro taco runs $53,000 here. That's $13,000 over a Trd off road.

A z71 off road Colorado with a diesel is $43,000, about $38,000 with v6. So is should be around high 40's I hope.

If they can come in under 43 for a gas extended cab, I'll probably order one. Assuming real world tests are promising

Your response would make sense if my point was: "GM hasn't made any classic cars." Instead of quote mining, maybe read the context of the discussion and come up with something responsive as a reply? Besides a bunch of restored or barely driven GM products that are look really cool looking, but wouldn't last as drivers, proves my point even further.

I can still remember walking home from school and seeing a GNX in every third driveway. It certainly was the people's car--everyone had to have one. It's amazing that this dealer only has 2 of 547 ever made. Perfect comparison to the everyday Celicas, Corollas, Camrys and ancient pickups still together and still on the road. /s

When confronted with the fact that GM has made shit cars for four decades its apologist respond by citing examples of shitty, but cool looking classic cars they made in the 40s, 50s and 60s; or shitty, but cool performance or low production niche models they made in the 70s, 80s or 90s.

The Colorado is a better looking pickup than the Tacoma [subjective]. The ZR2 has more features and capabilities than the Tacoma. A ZR2, kept at the dealer for 35 years, will probably be cooler and more collectable than a Tacoma. Why? Because in 35 years it won't be rare to see Tacomas still on the road.

You're just full of wisdom aren't you?

Plenty of old gm's on the road. I looked around for a '96-'00 Tacoma, but they all went to the junk yards as per toyota's descression.

For comarrison I don't see very many cars on the roads from the '90's where I live, so we're they all junk?

The only Toyota car I consider a true collectable classic is the 2000GT. [1967]

The Supra Turbos's had awesome engines and one could soup them up to incredible HP numbers but for style, nahhhh, the 2000GT was the ultimate car Toyota ever did.

This Tacoma generation is a joke. The 3rd Gen's Chief Engineer, Mike Sweers, is a former engineer from Chrysler Motors and his design flaws and issues are showing early enough to have doubts and loss of confidence.

This new Chevy looks appealing, has the ability to raise the bar, and give Toyota a run for its money.
