Hell, I didn't even have MRE heaters. I got this in a box at a yard sale several months ago.

Planning at road trip to arches Bryce and Zion mid December. Can anyone tell me how the hike to delicate arch is during that time? Will I need crampons? hoping to do delicate and double o while in arches.

Any must do hikes for Bryce?

Depending on snow the main road in Bryce maybe shut down just south of the first couple of view points, best thing to check would be their official websites. Bryce may do a formal road shut down between certain dates. Arches is much lower in elevation and unless it snows a lot before you get there I can't imagine it being too much off a problem.

Shouldn't be more than a few inches of snow, if any.

Also, delicate arch is in arches, not Zion, but they're all good to check out.

Thanks! I was looking up info and all parks said they had first come first serve campsites during that time so I'm hoping they'll all be open. So if the main road for Bryce is shut down south of the few viewpoints you are referring to, would it be worth staying there for a night? Or would just the view points be enough? I would love to be able to stay for a night so hike around. But if it's shut down I don't know what else there would be to do there.

Yes I know that. I'm doing arches, Bryce, and Zion. Will be starting in arches and working my way back to Cali.

The area that would be open is probably the most scenic, there is still plenty to see and hike around. The only problem to hiking is that at 8000ft any lingering snow ices over and can become dangerous for the unprepared as some of the trails run along cliffs. It would definitely be worth a night especially if it snows a day or 2 before you arrive. Also at that time of the year it gets pretty cold at night to the point most would be uncomfortable, the Ruby Inn wasn't priced too bad last year when I went up there to photograph a snow storm. A December trip there can definitely be rewarding, just do plenty of research and keep and eye on the weather.

    Great thanks!

Yea, last year I did Zion and havasupai point in the Grand Canyon over New Year's Eve and it was freezing. This year I'll have a little warmer gear. I'll make sure to check weather and be aware of my surroundings when hiking. I love the views of the red rocks covered in snow.

Edit. I'll prob wear crampons for Bryce then.

I went at thanksgiving in 2013. Plenty of snow in Bryce in November.
