Nothing the government spends money on is well spent. It's not their money, its money from taxes, so it's not like they care if it's wasteful.

Like another poster said, they probably bought each one for $100k for base models

I'll bet they talked to a fleet manager, and got a similar deal as other companies. Unless you're a govt contractor building specialized vehicles, there is no way thay paid a huge amount for these trucks. If I was in charge of purchasing, and my boss said we need trucks, I'd go to the dealer and start there. Logic y'all. That said, the Govt. knows how to spend for sure. At least they are a robust well made reliable vehicle.

Hah. We used Chevy trucks for a while overseas. Up armored suburbans and cheapo Colorado's.

We beat the hell out of the trucks. The colorados died way before their time, and while the suburbans lasted longer, no where as long as a taco.

    They were fun though...

Good on them for buying better trucks.

Eh, we usually drive trucks into the ground... And other things.

But they don't often last long without our maintenance.

You must be a government worker since you seem to defending them pretty firmly with a few of your posts. I bet you voted Obama. Just relax and go into your safespace for a bit.

There are inefficiencies and some needless programs in spending, but that doesn't mean all money spent isn't doing good. NASA (countless benefits from NASA like MRI machines and solar energy), farm programs to help farmers produce crops and keep manure from entering our drinking water. Just to name a few. There are many positive programs our govt invests in.

I agree that many areas of the government are wasteful and inefficient, but I always do my best to ensure the products and services I am responsible for procuring are necessary and the prices arent inflated to hose the government. Even within my own organization, I am sad to say that I am the minority.
