    Wife and I have been loosely talking about another dog. We have had two and both were pound dogs and the best ever. But we had her parents next door to keep them company and spoil them.
    Some days we are both gone like 14 hours so not in the cards yet. Looks very happy there. ;)

    Yeah they make great companions, once you've had a dog it's hard to be without one. I wish they had a longer life span. They're the Best! :)

    Awesome looking deer! I used to hunt out here, but we had to drive 6 hrs to the eastern Sierra, Mammoth area, to find anything. The deer that are in our local mountains are like german shepherds with maybe a forkhorn on their head. Plus there was always a bunch of road hunters driving fast thru the dirtroads expecting a deer to come out of the woods and pose for them. Thinking of selling my 30-30, already sold the 30-06. I went to Idaho 2 weeks ago to hunt elk with my nephew, no joy. 3 days of freezing my arse off, at least the scenery was beautiful. Congrats again for a job well done-respect for any man who can put food on the table.

    @CVYota Joshua Tree is a great place to climb, spent many a time out there my own self. I may be selling off some climbing stuff and know you work with the scouts-any interest? Couple of newer ropes, one is brand new no climbs, all used for top rope climbs, a couple of ropes for caving/slot canyons, harnesses, slings, nuts and bongs (no not that type), jumars, etriers (sp) (sling ladder for aid climbing). Let me know.

    What is this wet stuff falling from the sky? It is not supposed to do that in So. Cali! Chuck or Andy anything in your areas? Glad I went and shot skeet yesterday. We go to the Olympic Training Center and I saw the olympian, forgot her name, there shooting a couple of rounds. Makes it look so easy! Super nice humble, woman-just hanging with the guys and talking.

    Finished my Coffee and started the sound deadening project in the back cabin of the Tacoma. I'm using two layers and one has been delivered and the roller and the second layer of deadening is scheduled to hit tomorrow. This will probably get buttoned up Friday. Enjoy the day peeps! :)

    @Cold Iron
    I have never hunted pheasant, but it does look interesting. How did you come to pick it up as a hobby? I will have to see if there are any areas out here to hunt them. Probably harder than hitting the clay birds of trap and skeet!

    Don't tell me you shot skeet with Kim Rhode?! :eek: I got to watch her go into the shoot offs against the Chinese woman at the last olympics on TV to be the only summer Olympian to earn 6 medals, and the first to win medals on 5 continents. I got to see her in person at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996 and she earned Gold, back then she was the youngest shooter to ever earn a medal. She is a legend and goddess for those that shoot the shotgun in clay sporting events in any venue. Or at least should be!

    I don't shoot my centerfire guns and don't hunt big game anymore. Gave up a lot of preference points for elk in Co. but would rather watch the dog chase birds. And they are a lot easier to drag or quarter and pack out of the woods ;) But can't ever see selling any of my rifles, hopefully my youngest son will someday have them and use them. My 30-30 sees very little use anymore and was my grandfathers, I will never part with it.

    I think an European mount is a smart idea. Shoulder mounts require maintenance, dusting and cleaning. Have also found out the females that come to my place are usually not found of a deer head sitting in the living room so it is now sitting in my reloading room. An European mount would likely be more acceptable. I would think anyhow.

    No I did not shoot with her, just watched and hung out after-shooter appreciation day. Discounted fees and a free lunch and some raffles.
    Great looking deer and 30-30, so cool it was your grandfather's and that your son will someday get it. I bought mine from a co-worker, early 80's so no real collector or sentimental value and my son likes to shoot but has not picked up hunting. He's 22 and in love with his car and a young lady.
