Becca if I remember correctly the Smittybilts are a portable setup. Any portable compressor can be turned into a hardwire and mounted setup. In theory you could build any hardwire compressor into a portable setup as well. You would just need to source more parts.

 

Ya that's what I figured I have a portable but that sucker gets hot after airing my tires up

Thoughts on oilless electric compressors...
imo, get the biggest one you can fit/afford. It will be worth it in the long run.
They all have two things that need to be taken into consideration.
CFM and Duty Cycle.
most have a duty cycle of 20-40 minutes.
ARB offers some with 100% duty cycle, but you will pay for it.

If the CFM is high enough, you will most likely never reach the duty cycle unless you airing up the entire crew.
If the CFM is low, you might be there a lot longer airing only your tires.

CFM is reduced at
Altitude,
and with cold air.
Meaning, in the winter, up high, expect to be there longer, shivering. So again, go with the biggest you can.

While we are on the subject, avoid the Harbor Freight air compressors.
They have one that is a Smittybilt clone. My buddy bought the bigger one. It worked pretty good at first, I was actually jealous of the cost.
It failed on him last month, he only wheels a few times a year, a fraction of what I do. It lasted about 9 months and maybe a handful of uses.

She's a big bitch, but plenty fast. I aired up 18 tires in a row on one run and it didn't break a sweat and didn't take all that long.

I'd rather have the ARB twin with a tank, but if you have the space, the puma gives you the same performance for about half the price of just the arb twin. The puma compressor itself is bigger and probably slightly heavier.
