Towing with my 4banger

I have a 09 taco 4cly. whats the max weight it can tow? I have a car that weights no more than 3000 pounds plus the weight of the trailer will my truck have any issues with towing it ?

 

What kind of car? What kind of trailer?

 

i would be towing a notchback mustang, when i take it out to the track i am not 100% the trans will hold so if it were to blow it would be nice to have trailed the car to the track being i would have to drive 2-3hrs to the track. as far as the trailer goes idk what id be using.

 

According to Toyota the max tow weight for 4 cyl is 3500lbs.

One of the steel,tandem axle, 16' utility trailers will weigh in over 1000lbs empty, prolly closer to 1500lbs.
My guess is you will need to beef up the rear springs on your truck, my buddy has an 06',v6,4x4 and the springs are soft/weak.
Honestly I think its too much for the 4 cyl., but if you do do it make sure you have trailer brakes. My truck does not pull well on the hwy with trailer(16' utility) loaded with 1000lbs.
Another thing to consider hauling the mustang is wind drag while on the trailer, its gong to make that 4 banger work hard. Plus side winds on windy day will add to swaying.

 

I guess I'll find out. Just bought a Quicksilver camper 1500lbs dry weight. My 09 taco 4x4, four banger says 3500 lbs. Will keep you posted.

 

Just the other day i put 1900 lbs of steel in my bed and the truck was fine. Not the fastest but it go the job done. I didnt go to far with it only about 5 miles. I have a 2 inch add a leaf and billy 5100s in the rear and suspension was sagging alot.
