Who has installed stiffer coil overs, Icon, King, Fox or whatever and then removed the sway bar? How was the ride, body roll, etc.? If this is in fact something you have done I would love to hear your experience and if you put it back on or left it off.

If this is something you have not done personally, keep your comments to yourself because I don't give a fuck what your opinion is, no one asked you.

Lmao. There is a little body roll but nothing major. To be honest; just take it off and judge for yourself. If you don't feel comfortable then throw it back on. Takes like 5mins to take on/off.

I've thought about this. I put extended travel icon's on mine. I wonder how much the sway bar limits the travel. I know sway bar disconnects were big with keeps back in the day.

Which makes me think...why don't they have those for toyotas? Or do they and I just haven't looked.

You are right ... just take it off and see how I like it.

Most long travel yota's remove their sway bar off due to the increase in track width. Not only do they enjoy better articulation and suspension control from removing it, but their handling is actually just as good or if not better without it.

If you want to get coilovers and remove the sway bar, my suggestion would be to get some Spider Trax or Bora spacers to be able to enjoy the benefit of better articulation as well as retained steering control without the pain in the ass the sway bar presents.

The first few minutes of driving I was like "woah.... Tippy" then it was fine. I'm never going back to the constraints of having a wrought iron bar telling me I should be flat around a corner.

The only time I notice a difference is quick maneuvers. Otherwise it's very docile.

    Do it.

Edit: I will tell you that a change in driving habits is prudent... But I didn't and my truck is still shiny side up.

I like the wider track thinking here. The offset in my rims add a couple of inches already.

There you go! Add a little more and the increase in width will offset the loss of the stabilizer bar. You'll be good to go!

yet you're asking on a public forum? LOL
good luck this is TW after all.

    Here for info anyways
I wonder if there are any quick disonnects just for the trail.
Wonder the legality of driving without it.

Some of you guys are magical. I pulled mine off tonight because I was bored (and want to get full use of the coilovers). It definitely wasn't a five minute job. More like 20 I had to pull off the skid and the braces behind it.

Excited to try it out. Last car I had without sway bars was a very soft and long travel jeep. I scared many people on corners in that thing. :)

So to sum it up... the only time you really need it, is when you're in a life-and-death situation on the freeway and you want to be able to do a high speed maneuver. But hey, that situation probably won't come up, right? I bet Toyota just wanted to spend extra money in the manufacturing of the truck to add on components that you don't really need.

I tried going without it after installing an OME kit. Didn't like it. If it's down to either having improved safety on the highway to avoid the many retards behind wheels, or having a slight improvement in performance off-road where the worst case scenario is failing to move forward quite as easily.... I'll take the sway bar.
