Ah...was gonna say the new tacoma can't be the only vehicle having transmission issues.

It seems like lots of new vehicles are having these issues with more technology, more gears and with the whole epa riding everyone's ass.

Even read somewhere that the tacoma had a quicker 0-60 time than the colorado v6. Pretty impressive seeing how the colorado has higher hp/tq numbers and the amount of complaints I've read regarding the tacoma trans.

I do have to say while the gm twins might not be my first choice, they sure are doing things to stay competitive.

Yep. And we can thank them for motivating Toyota to at least give us some sort of "new" Tacoma. Really looking forward to the new ranger.

I'm ready to dump the taco too. This past week we rented a new Yukon XL to drive up to the Dakotas for a pheasant hunt with the dogs. Averaged over 20 mpg on the way up traveling at a steady pace around 80 MPH and all I could do was wish I had the ride, power and fuel economy offered by the GM V8. I would have averaged under 13 mpg given the speed, terrain and altitude of the trip, not to mention the insanity caused by the ridiculous shifting and constant whine of high RPMs. I drove a little over 100 miles down to deer camp with a lightweight 6x12 trailer and little honda pioneer 500 in tow and averaged 7mpg.
I'm not drawing any parallel comparisons on the two vehicles, but I know what the Taco isn't. It's going to be financially painful when I eventually pull the trigger on the full size.

Yep, my 2014 Silverado 5.3L ecotec v8 with the 6 speed got 20-24 mpg consistently city, highway, 30 mph to 80 mph, like others disappointed with toyotas choice in this powertrain.

I didn't see it anywhere in the post, but what is the window sticker price difference between the two trucks?

Your posts lack worth and foundations for viable thoughts. 2014 5.3 averages 16.5 mpg on fuelly, 3.5 Tacoma is 19. 2014 Silverado approach angle is 17.9 degrees. Tacoma off-road is 32. It seems you'd prefer they make the Tacoma into a pavement princess with a car-like front valence so you can get ridgeline mpg. The gas Tacoma is fully maxed on mpg potential for its given aerodynamic sacrifices, every way to increase mpg will decrease off-road capabilities.

I wouldn't go that far, some people just buy them and realize it's not the truck they're looking for. Plenty of other trucks in the market to choose from.

I never understand why people buy Tacos and expect decent gas mileage, they've always been shitty.

Clearly reading comprehension is not your strong suit so please let me correct you on your ignorant response. First, have you owned a Silverado?, because I have, and I assure you mine achieved 20-23 mpg combined, Fuelly also indicates the Tacoma getting less than others reporting here, I have first hand experience you do not and instead are running your mouth on what a website tells you. Second, I mentioned nothing on departure/angles of the Silverado vs Tacoma, I did however mention them in comparsion of the Colorado and Tacoma and that the Tacoma has better departure and approach angles. Again reading comprehension must not be your strong suit. Finally your little pavement princess remark is comical, if you look at my profile sig you can see I removed the valence air damn, and this is my 5th Tacoma and have taken them all places most don't on here, but keep assuming. So who's post really "lack worth and foundations for viable thoughts"...

One mans benefit is another mans ....

If bed height wasn't an issue I would have the gm diesel in my garage instead of my poseur pro

    Because times change
    Technology moves things forward

I remember when we had Nissan patrols and fj60 that got 11-13 mpg and we were happy

Today suvs get 25 mpg and killing the sedan market

Even your poor person can afford a SUV

So some people expect turd gen has technology but they forgot Toyota trucks are 10 years behind the competition.

    I am that fickle

Have kept new cars for less than 2 weeks at times

That said pro is fine for now
Will trade in on tundra when new one comes

So you can't get rid of me that easily

Yeah but it's marketed as a lifestyle vehicle for offroad capability, It's supposed to put scars on the earth, not try and save it.

Most Tacoma owners have Prius during the week

Most Tacoma owners are scared to scar their face during shaving, much less the earth

Their lifetysle is putting $10,000 off road parts to make others think they have a lifestyle when in reality they just go to thrift stores and pick up their wives garbage on the weekend in their "expedition" trucks
