Agreed, but frame rot seems to plague the ones that are left.

My first truck was a 86 Toyota with a 22RE. Loved that little red wagon...

Yep, I thought they were better looking than the Toyota at that time.

    S10
    Ranger
    Mitsubishi Mighty Max
    Nissan Hard body
    Isuzu P'up

Plenty of little trucks to choose from back then for light duty, if you wanted more capability you skipped them and bought domestic full size.

When the Taco 2nd gen came out, suddenly everyone started expecting full size truck performance when the damn thing was as big as the current generation Tundra. Now instead of compact we had midsized and overlap into the fullsize market.

I think Toyota might be trying to define them again so if you want power, you go tundra.

Yep, that was the beginning of the midsized where people began to expect full size performance in a smaller package. I honestly think Toyota screwed up by making the Taco bigger without a V8 option and just concede the fullsize market to the domestics, dump the Tundra.

We're going to pass on the Babymax (in any configuration). Too uncomfortable, and frankly if I'm going to get another truck it might as well be a full size.

It is, by far, a much nicer powertrain. Toyota should re-think their offerings...

    Good choice I believe.

Me personally... Tacoma for mid size and f150 for full size. Done and done

What about the interior makes it so uncomfortable? Might go play at the dealership myself, like the thought of more torque and better mileage.

As long as people keep buying Tacos by the ass loads....there's little motivation for Toyota to do much.

Thinking about the discussion on this thread, and it occurred to me- one thing the competition cannot match is the breadth and width of the information available on TacomaWorld. This is like Facebook for OCD rabid gear heads and wannabes, in a good way of course.
