I was just wondering if anyone has installed a Grill Craft Upper Grill without cutting the factory grill? IS there a way to attach it right over the top of the stock grill?
Or are there any grills where you can do this?
    thanks in advance

Of course I trust your knowledge Chris, but can you explain how? or get me instructions or point me to who would know?
Reason I was asking is, I was going to get in on the Group Buy, and truckalter said he had never installed a GC on a Tacoma.

I dont have instructions. The only reason people cut out the center part, is because it is visible thru the grill.

If you are hesitant about installing the grille...don't be. It is very easy to cut out the insert and screw in the grillcraft. You will need a rotary tool, like a dremel tool and need to use a rotary cutting bit (chris4x4 advised me to this and it made the work quick and easy). WEAR EYE PROTECTION! Just tape up the grille surround so you don't scratch it and take your time. When you get your grillcraft you can lay it against your grille and you will see what you need to cut out. It took me a little longer than what others claim it took them but I am a perfectionist and went slow. There are 6 little screws to install (2 top, 2 bottom, 2 side). Easy and worth it. Do it yourself and it will make you feel proud. I also did the horn relocate which took about 25 minutes and it looks much better.

Oh and becareful when you remove the stock grille. The pushpins and top screws are no problem, but those damn clips at the bottom are a bitch. I broke one taking it off and cussed trying to get it back on. You can get extra clips from toyota for 2 bucks and change. And paint behind the grill flat black for a clean look.

If you so to there website there instructions tell you that you can install wit or without.
PS: does anyone know what it would look like if you paint it the same color as the truck?

I've seen it in person where the person did not cut the stock grill. It looked good but not as good as if you were to cut the stock grill. You can take the emblem off the stock grill and just 3M tape it onto the GC grill afterwards. Not hard to do at all.;)

i had a grill that i installed on my 09 without cutting. i since sold the grill though and don't have any pics.

the reason i didn't like it without cutting is because of the argent oem grill (which i think started in 09). the prior years were black. a black background or painting or cutting, i think would look better.

    Which grill did you have?
It would be easier to paint that cut.

I found this picture on Grillcrafts website showing the center no cut out, but using a chrome grill( i prefer black) But it doesnt give intructions on how to do it without cutting it, and it shows that you remove the emblem, so Im guessing you would have to cut the new grill for the emblem to show through.
    thanks for your help everyone!

You can leave the stock and emblem if you want, but it looks like ass. You might as well get a Lund screen. Members have done it before, I just can find the pics. Maybe over on TN. The members eventually cut out the stock grille cross bars.
