I lost the rear brake line in my gmc about 20 some odd years ago at the boat launch. I drove the truck, boat, son, 25 miles home up and down hills. All I had was the e brake and very little pedal for a emergency. And I needed it one mile from the house when a asshat pulled out on front of me. Used everything i had and stopped it and then made it home on e brake only.
    Ahhhh the good old days.

Been there, done that! Once when a brake line failed, couple times when the single MC failed on the 66, made it home by using the e brake only.

Another young nut here. I had a 66 VW bus, POS, where the brake line burst. Only had low gear to slow down. Fortunately I was less than a mile from home.

I see you have driven that 6V POS before. LOL I was able to get home safe but in hindsight it was a very stupid thing to do.

Trying to purchase a 2016 Avalon with $0 down and 0% interest for 72 months. The cost from the dealer is $36, 787 with these requirements. Sent the sales contact back a message to see if he can get the price down close to $32,000 with the same financing options. Basically I am asking for the 3,000 off and the 0% financing. We will see how bad they want a 2016 car off the lot to make room for a 2017 car. I purchased my 09 Tacoma from them and I financed the Tacoma with Toyota Financial Services. The sales contact has the past purchase information. I hope he had the good sense to check the dealers records.

I like buying a new vehicle. We are in no hurry to buy but I am looking for a super deal. I will go into the dealership on 12/26/2016 to obtain a better deal if I need to. I just do not want to waste everyone's time just to have us walk out of the dealership when they do not meet our price.

    HAPPY TURKEY DAY ALL!!!
I'm on my way to pick up some prime Sashimi to go with the turkey. Family thing, we always have some raw fish at Thanksgiving. Making some Lumpia rolls too. Drooling just thinking about it.

Well the wife said no deal to the offer from the dealership. She does not want to commit to having 40K come out of one of the IRA's. It is her car so I really do not care. I felt the Toyota dealership made us a decent offer and would probably knock off another $500 once we went in to talk to them.

    Evening all:
Thought I would wait to post this; went down to the local coffee shop BS session this morning and found out that two guys I know had bit the dust! The one guy had major problems with diabetes, and the other one did himself in. Two families there that aren't going to have a very happy holiday season this year.
That total of suicides by people I knew just keeps climbing! :(

*wave* 60's, wannabes, and Susan from San Antonio Texas! Happy belated Thanksgiving.

We drove out to TX from PA over the past week. Left home in a snowstorm, arrived in San Antonio in a t-shirt and shorts. :D It feels good to see the USA up close and personal. We started out using fixed routes I laid out before we left, but switched to Google Maps when we hit heavy traffic in Nashville. 'Sheila' (that's our name for the voice on Google Maps) found us a route around the backup without us even asking, and we wound around through the city and right to our hotel just as well as if we had lived there for 20 years. Pretty slick. Same thing happened as we turned south near Dallas; accident ahead on I-35, so 'Sheila' routed us off the interstate and onto some absolutely spectacular secondary roads through the rolling hills around Waco and Austin. It was a beautiful way to see the "real" Texas.

Yesterday we shared Thanksgiving dinner with my son, his family, and his inlaws. His wife's mother did all of the cooking and WOW can she ever put on a meal.

Now all I have to do is plan the trip back home! o_O

    Evening all:
:annoyed: Just got done mailing a form in for a refund on part B medicare supplement that is provided by the co. that combined a few of the bankrupt steel co's.
First notification said the form had to be mailed by Feb. 15, but if you didn't opt for the health care plan they were offering us, the form DID NOT have to be sent in and we would be eligible for the refund. Another form came today that must be postmarked by Dec. 1st, this one must be sent in in order to get the refund and the part about not sending it in is not on it like the first one!
I even made a copy of the first one and sent both of them in with the part about not having to send it in circled in red. :notsure:
I have a feeling the refund may be coming to an end, and it seems like they are pushing for us to sign up for a part B plan with Aetna which I don't want.

Way to much tricky stuff for insurance. Always a loophole, always a condition you can't meet.
    Yea fun times..
