My Taco's first rescue

Hey everyone, new Tacoma owner here and love it so far. It's a 2016 TRD Off Road 4x4 DCSB. Wife and I took it for some light off-roading at Carnegie yesterday and we were very impressed by its abilities in stock form. Well, during our outing, a Polaris RZR 4 got stuck in the mud pit and I'm glad we were able to pull them out.

It's a really nice park but I wish it had open roads for trucks. It seems to be geared more towards ATV's and dirt bikes.

just a heads up, that loop on the driver's side isn't a recovery point. Recovery point is on passenger side.

Thank you for that. I kind member PM'd me yesterday about that and was very informative. I'm fairly new to trucks and I hope to learn more about this truck in this great site by fellow members.

 

Good thing that RZR was an easy pull. It is never advisable to pull someone from the front backing up. The front axle gear system is much stronger going forward. Going forward the ring gear carrier is pushed back into the housing. Going backwards the carrier is pushed out towards the bearing caps which are much weaker.

 

I did actually as I was the only truck around the area. I'm sure someone else would have came along eventually but they didn't have to wait since I was already there.

 

Next time brother! I was hoping it would rain while I was there but it was just overcast.

 

It was definitely an easy pull but thank you for the info. I will make sure to not do that again even if it is an easy pull. I just joined yesterday and i've already learned quite a bit. This is a very helpful community.
