Rubbing issue! Help!

Just installed 265 70r17 tires and 17x8.5 pro comp 34 wheels with 0 offset and 4.75 backspacing. Rubbing/ grinding when I brake, any ideas? As far as I can tell it is not hitting the wheel well.

What corner is the grinding coming from? I would lift that corner, spin the tires and see what it's rubbing against. Break caliper maybe?

 

I am going to take it back tomorrow to the dealer since they put them on for me, but not sure they will do anything to help since I did not buy the wheels from them.

 

If it is the brake caliper, would spacers fix the problem?

 

Can you stick your finger between the wheel and caliper?

 

Any pics of UCA's ?

 

Spacers should help. The tires that you put on are a little bigger than stock, that's why they are rubbing, but the wheels are probably made a little different than the stock wheels.

 

Jack that truck up and spin each wheel by hand and listen

 

Is the grinding only when you apply the brakes?

 

I can but with the way the wheel is made, I cannot get to the middle of it to see. But what I can feel, I can barely do it.

 

Can you see a spot on the inside of the wheel where something has been rubbing?

 

To be honest, when I drove on the interstate it was loud howling sound, but I thought that was where the tires are semi aggressive. When I brake, it is more of a grinding sound.

 

If there's a decent enough size gap, I doubt your wheels are hitting the caliper.

My son's truck did the same thing when he got new rims and tires (same size as you). It was his driver's side front, worse when braking. We jacked it up and took the wheel off. Couldn't find much, but the sheet metal shield slightly rubbing in one spot. We then put it back on and no more rubbing or grinding. My theory is that the tire place had not seated the rim to the hub and it was causing it to rub.

 

I am thinking mine is also coming from the drivers side. Would you recommend taking it back to the dealer to have it inspected? as I do not have a jack
