I have Eaton E-Locker on my 88 Jeep and a Full time Detroit in the rear, I can't count on my hands how many times I've needed a front locker....zero so far.

As far as the ZR2 I like that you can turn on the rear locker pretty much anytime. Front locker is restricted to 4 low which I dont have a problem with.

    I think 265/60/18, so 30.5" or so

I had front and rear ARB lockers in my JK. I engaged the rear A LOT more than the front for sure. The only time I locked the front was 2 or 3 times in Moab. Not sure if I could have made the obstacle without it as I engaged on the first attempt.

That's true. The Tacoma is the Barbie Doll of the truck world. You can accessorize until you are god damned gutter ass broke.

However if I read the ZR2 specs right, it's coming off the line with a top notch suspension, wider track, diesel option, spare tire carrier, redesigned nose.... It's got some pretty tasty features right from the factory.

Nice! I almost went with ARB except I didn't want to deal with air lines though they do a great job with them.

Yup, I came from the Jeep world and had over $20k invested in my rig. I loved that damn Jeep and miss it every day. But, I needed a truck bed for mountain bikes and motorcycles so a TRD OR is the perfect compromise for myself.

I loved them. Not to mention I had an on board compressor so it was really nice. This pictures was before the long arm coilover set up we did. She was running 37s on only 2.5" of lift. It was a really fun rig.

Yep, my Canyon SLT has Wrangler 265/60/18's on it. Not sure what comes on GM's version of the off-road.

It doesn't feel slow compared to the Tacoma. If you're driving full throttle all day, yes the Taco blows it away. In normal driving, the diesel feels just as powerful. More so at 75mph.

40K for a truck that goes 0-60 in 9 seconds.. but hey.. it feels FAST.

Ya especially when comparing a stock diesel colorado to a non-regear lifted tacoma...

The Babymax has a buttery smooth, very linear power band. It's really pretty cool.

I can say compared to my Tacoma the Duramax is much, much more refined. No hard shifting up/down, no shift flares. Very nice.

It felt fine compared to the stock Tacoma as well. It's not much of a stretch to think a diesel will drive pretty well. The Tacoma is a fine truck, but the transmission issues at highway speeds are well documented on this forum. The diesel having over 100 foot pounds of torque than the Tacoma, is a no brainer on the highway. Off-Road, not so much. I'd take the Tacoma if I was going down the Rubicon trail, the GMC is I was commuting a long way to work, which I do.

You should go down and drive both and compare. I've driven both as well as @Threerun, and we both have the same opinion.

I'm just joking. Diesel will run fine, might have some additional maintenance nuances. For what you are doing with your truck, the GMC fits your lifestyle.
