I had a 2016 rental. Couldn't give me one of those pieces of crap. Worst material selection and fit and finish I've ever seen. Worse fuel economy than my tacoma

Hope you are planning to keep that sucker for a while. It won't hold it's value nearly as well as the Taco. Extended cab and long bed make it the last one picked at recess. Isn't a short bed F150 have the same sized bed as a long bed taco?

They're getting long in the tooth. But Toyota had the frame recall going for 05+ Tundras. I'm sure there's used ones available that have a new frame under them.
http://www.toyota.com/recall# No open recalls on that truck, I believe the '05 Tundra frame recall ended in January, 2015. So if it has perforations it's too late to get it remedied. Run the VIN through toyotaowners.com to see the service history at Toyota dealers. If the frame has been replaced it will show up there.

I had the AC Tundra which was a good trailrunner, actually shorter than a Gen2 Tacoma DCLB. That was a nice truck, smooth as silk, quiet, comfortable, Limited had the power driver seat. No rust, was a TX and NM truck when I bought it. If you buy it slap a Hellwig rear sway control bar on it.

Close I guess. I had to offload my dog kennel to my friend in order for me to haul my mule deer and camping gear back home last week. He lives 230 miles away.

A larger bed would have been nice.

I got better fuel economy on my test drive than on the Tacoma I brought in. True story.

But.. You are right about the interior. Toyota is way better, and Chevy GMC is FAR better.

No need to bash. The 5.0 in the f150 is reliable and gives great gas mileage so far. I buy a truck for reliability and comfort not based on how hard the plastic is. My seats are comfortable as heck and the ride is almost silent. I'm happy and hope you are too in your truck.

A long bed extended cab will drop in value like a rock. If you can stand it, maybe a crew cab long bed, or supercab short bed. Supercrew short bed would be optimal for resale. Maybe a Chevy doublecab. It has 4 doors, so it holds it's value better than a ford supercab. I think ford is the only manufacturer that still makes a full size truck with suicide doors. Dosen't matter as much if you're keeping it 5 years or more.

If you're buying a GM, opt for the crew cab. No reason to buy the double cab. Going to end up with 4 doors and a useless back seat.

The tiny Tacoma fuel tank always irritated me. 8-10mpg towing in the West the tank range was effectively about 150 miles. Even this little 180 inch long 4Runner has a 23 gallon tank. The '05 Tundra about the same size as a DCLB Taco had a 26.5 gallon tank. It was a fail with the 3rd gen they kept the same tiny fuel tank.

When I was at enterprise picking up a rental to get to the dealer to buy my Tacoma the guy in front of me was sent over by the Ford dealership, rental for an undetermined period. Reason: engine failure on his brand new f150 with 3k miles on it.

Well I just got rid of my Tacoma didn't realize I had to leave immediately. You said worst gas mpgs? Sorry but this has been much better in that dept then my taco. It also has the biggest back seat and safest ratings for my children. Those are facts.

Last year before I bought the Tacoma I test drove an F-350 crew cab long box diesel. Thought I might go big or go home.

That thing should have as standard equipment a guy in the back of the bed with an additional steering wheel so you can turn a city street corner.

Probably traded in his 2016 for the F150 for the same reason.

Some people have the worst luck, I tell ya.

I mean fuck, look at you! You had to take a rental car just to get to the dealer!

They all break. I've seen a couple people on here claim Toyota has bought their trucks back. There isn't a bad car made today. Well, except for maybe dodge, Chrysler, jeep, mini, fiat, and VW.
