    I heard that you can't use the awning mounts and a roof rope tent on a Toprac. Is that correct?

    I actually just used his awning mounts for my ARB awning and was abe ti mount my tent as well.. You just have to slide the tent over a bit. I had a little over hang on the one side, maybe like 2 or 3 inches but it worked fine. I as on a 3 day trip from NJ to VA. I'll see if i have any pictures

    Here are some pictures.. its a little hard to see how the tent is mounted because of my rear awning but you can see its a little off centered bc of the awning mounts,but it worked fine for me.

    I'm still trying to search through the several hundred pages on this thread, but, has anyone posted the measurements of where to drill/punch the holes on the stock weatherstripping for these racks? I saw the two links in the first post, but I must have missed the measurements if there were any.

    Thanks!

    I recommend marking them based on your exact holes. The rack mounting points are slotted because the holes will vary slightly and the weatherstripping is unforgiving if you get it slightly off.

    Makes sense. Thanks!

    And it may sound dumb... but has someone done a DIY for measuring the factory holes or is it simply measuring from the front of the weatherstripping?

    My side rails and front panel came back from my local powder coater today. Got tired of looking at them on the coffee table because my punches haven't gotten here yet soooo... I made my own plug cutter out of a 3/8" bolt, some washers I had and a little chunk of 3/4" OD tube I had laying around.IMG_2768.jpg
    IMG_2770.jpg
    Got the rack assembled and on the truck and light bar mounted. Haven't wired in the light bar yet as I am waiting on switches, relays, weather tight junction box and some seal tight connectors to get here. I am planning on several sets of lights on the roof rack and will be mounting the junction box on the rack itself. I will have one 12v+ 14ga, a ground 14ga, a main breaker and 4-6 relays up there and I am going to try to use CAT-6 to switch the relays. Basically because I have 1k ft of it in the corner of my garage and it fits nicely under the wind shield weather stripping. Like I said I am going to try I'll let y'all know how it works or there will be another burning taco video. Crappy cellphone pic of truck after install. Took me about 45 minutes to put the rack together an mount it and about 15 minutes to build the tool to punch the holes in the stripping. Sealed the holes with 598b Permatex.IMG_2771.jpg

    Big thanks to Zach rack looks great and fit like a glove on the truck. Great product!

    @zscott

    Small suggestion... the shark fin antenna on the 3rd gen trucks gets in the way of the rear cross bar as I know you already know. You might add a hole to your .DXF file so it can be mounted vertically with out drilling. My thought only... You can tape a quarter to it, throw it in the river and say you lost something.IMG_2775.jpg IMG_2777.jpg

    Close... Never finished the courses after my internship. Lack about 2 semesters. I didn't like the cubical life. I have to have my hands on stuff. Oddly enough I make more as a welder, fabricator than most of my former classmates do as engineers. However I do work a lot more hours.

    Love what you do and never work a day in your life...

    same here man.. same here.

    I ditched the cubie farm days a few years ago and have been working at a Design/Engineering company since then. I work with my hands all day making stuff. It's a nice mix of Design and Hands-on fabricating. I love it.
