Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    .
In last 2 weekends ... got to drive a new Ridgeline and a gas burner Colorado ... the Colorado was nice in a upscale platform, but the base unit looked kinda base ... a Taco base unit (like a SR) looks good to me ... but I am a semi-Toyota fanboy too. Colorado seemed a little bigger and a little more bulky than the Tacoma.

The Ridgeline was nice ... but the ride was still too soft and the vehicle was a little too big for me ... this would be the perfect truck if I had a family and limited off-road.

I just like the "feel of the Tacoma" ... :)

All diesels were way better when they actually rattled, smoked, and didn't need def. I hate dodge but a Cummins can polish the turd.

...^^^... FWIW ... we used to use a lot of Detroit Diesel's .. 8V92TA's ... in pumpers and aerials ... great firetruck engine and clients loved them.

They were very quick in real life :burnrubber:

Fiat bought into Chrysler in 2014. Rams were created in the 1980s. Good try.

Okay GM Fanboy... Just got back from the stealership. We sat in the GMC SLT Canyon- the seats ARE a little softer and more compliant.

However... We also test drove a 1500 LTZ, extended cab standard box with the 6.2 mated to the 8spd automatic. It was oh so comfy, and on our test run the computer read 20mpg on the freeway, about 15mpg through town-ish.. Average for the trip was 18mpg.

What do you think of the 8 spd? The sales guy said he thinks that all the LTZ trimmed 1500's are mated that way whether they are 6.2 or 5.3

By the way the 1500 LTZ made the Ford F-150 XLT look like a shitbox. The Chevy is waaaay nicer riding, handling and more comfortable.

@Threerun Great comparison. I drove the v6 Colorado ZR1(or whatever the model is) after test driving the TRD OR v6. While the transmission shifts a lot on the Taco, It did learn my driving and got much better along with the TSB. I found the overall drive of the Taco more enjoyable. To me the Colorado felt to much like a car and i was buying a truck. I also agree that with my very bad back and seat comfort being a top deciding factor the Taco just fit me better (5'11" 190lbs) while the Colorado had many + points the Taco fit what i was looking for in my truck. I personally feel I made the right choice but i wasnt buying for MPG or towing. I wanted a go anywhere truck that wasn't as large as a full size. If the Taco was a little smaller it would have been even better!

Anyway, once again great comparison. Hope you find the right truck to fit you and your needs.

So wife and I thought of something on the way back.. Get a full size truck for comfort, hauling more than 2 bodies (or hauling dogs for hunting)- all around general use and distance travelling. Sell my old Jeep Cherokee, then I buy a used 2nd gen (or even 3rd gen) as a dedicated trail/offroad pig. Access cab, manual tranny though...

    I like that idea.
