Guess there aren't any for the 3rd gens based on the lack of responses. I don't want to use a tailgate mount because it will get in my way when I'm loaded/unloading gear from the bed.

 

Some one needs to make one

 

That's probably your answer. I think most people use a tailgate or bumper mounts.

 

I have a hood mount for my half wave vhf antenna, using a larsen nmo mount. Think it was a 2013+ F-series hood lip mount as was nothing specifically available yet at the time, six months ago for my tacoma. Transferred my 2200H over from my other truck to my new girl. Hood lip mount fits and and works perfect. Will get a couple pics up tomorrow if I get a chance and not pissing down rain . Was able to use the oem bolt that is in the rear of the hood lip. Lots of support under it.

 

I'm not sure but I know I've seen one on the forum... I think relentless fab makes a hood mount? Or maybe someone use there ditch light bracket and turned it into a cb antenna mount.

How many of you guys take the antenna off when not in prolonged use? Does it throw off the calibration every time you take the antenna off and then on?

 

Can the CB antenna be mounted to the rear glass ? or somewhere closer to the cab ? any pics of these mods please ?

 

Here is mine. It is the bracket for a NBS Tahoe/Suburban. The only change was to drill a new hole vs. the standard hole you see in my picture to attach to the fender bolt. It was only by chance I tried my old bracket and as you can see, the bends in the fender match the bracket with NO modification. Now, a word of caution, the fender bolt and sheet metal are much thinner than the Tahoe. SO......i would only use a base loaded coil antenna like the one you see in the picture. There is no leverage due to the light whip to bend or damage the fender mounting. IF you were to use an Ugly Stick or Fiberglass rod etc. I would NOT mount it on the fender. Not enough steel to keep it steady.

Yep. That's the one. I used the whole length of wire and just wadded up a few feet I didn't use. Good luck.

 

What do you think of this version compared to the path you took. Also is your radio a detachable faceplate or attached. Just looking at ideas for mounting

I have an extra mount kicking around that bolts to the driver's side hood hinge.



It can also be used for ditch lights.



Not sure if it fits a 3rd Gen. I'll check.

 

I've seen some pics on here using those lip mounts. I believe they work fine. I have never used one.
