Here is what I posted and what I`m thinking Gary.
My Mom and my brother Ron just showed up for the EEA Fly in at Oshkosh.
So I have a driver for my rotor cuff surge and colon cancer in Aug. The
Sheriff`s Dept. offered to do it. But I get to save a favor. They do not
think the way that I do. Favors should be repaid. And I do not have a good
way to do that right now.
What I have is the GR1 V6. I can still buy real gas. Only 93 but that beats
    replacing a fuel system .
I am not going to outlive this 07 Taco.
So, I can put money into it.
Where I live, I don`t need cats. In fact they are a fire hazard. With the
price of metal the cats sell. People actually steal them. 5.56 NATO is hard
    to come by commercially.
So I`m thinking a TRD S/C will be nice for winter. TRD makes a good intake
    for that.
Straight pipes bent forward of the rear wheels would be out of the way. That
is how I have the Power Wagon set up. I put expansion chambers on the SS
tubes, Kinda like glass packs without the glass. This is a 389 Hemi. And it
is not too loud if you keep your foot out of the throttle.
It does rumble. But you outdrive the sound at 55 mph.
A wimpy 4 L should not be a problem. I would not mind hearing some feed
    back.
So lets say I install the TRD S/C package.
What would you boys recommend for duel exhausts?
Flowmaster seems the most popular. TRD exhaust is not getting votes. Or
should I disbelieve TRD on the exhaust manifold and just have a custom SS
system made from the headers or cylinder heads back and all with no cats?
There is a place that can do a SS custom exhaust here. I`ll only have to do
it once. The platinum can help pay for it.
Should I put in expansion chambers for some back pressure? The glass
blows out of glass packs. Why bother at all?

I think that you can't modify the exhaust and keep the Toyota warranty. Can anyone verify this?

you can modify the exhaust..........toyota has to prove that something within the exhaust cause whatever problems if it was to occur for warranty purposes.

normally, yes. But I think toyota had something in their terms and conditions for the supercharger that says you can't modify the exhaust or your warranty will be void. I know this is definitely the case for the headers.

well, yeah, its probably way different when you're adding forced induction like a super charger. kinda like adding doug thorley headers.....toyota aint gonna warranty them, for sure.:D

Nothing Toyota puts in writing invalidates the Magnuson-Moss Warranty act.

Federal law > Toyota's terms and conditions.

They can't void your warranty unless they can prove the modifications caused the failure requiring warranty work.

First off, welcome to the site.

I agree, but I bet Toyota's engineers could make some good stuff about how the supercharger was designed a specific backpressure.

You make a good point. Back pressure has to come from somewhere or low end torque suffers. TRD may tell me how much back pressure I need with the S/C. But if I`m going to this much trouble I want headers and a custom exhaust. The old glass packs should give me enough. Or two cats may do it, Four is too much.
Someone needs to do some research.

OK, I spoke to the service manager. The S/C is no problem. The problem is from the exhaust valves back. I looked at the exhaust manifold. Despite what TRD says, there is no way that this is a header. And there is no wat to get a free flowing exhaust from then unless you are on their racing team.
    I`ll try Performance Parts.

By installing the supercharger, Back pressure and exhaust scavenging are no longer an issue. Keep a set of cats. Preferably the ones before the O2 sensors. That way they can still give accurate info the the ECU. Very important if you are F/I. Get a nice free flowing muffler, and some 3" tibing made for the truck at a good exhaust shop. And thats it. :) And an Air intake if you feel, or headers for a few extra ponies.

Headers are only gonna give you a 10 - 15 h.p. gain whith a supercharger. Is the expense worth it?

Shure Chris. Headers and good exhaust are always worth it in MPG.
The TRD S/C seems well designed and warranteed. So, induction is no problem.

    You neglect the MPG gain.

If your changeing an exhaust for mpg gains, you wont see a return on the investment for years. Spending $1000.00 for an exhaust in order to gain 2 mpg, dont make too much sense, so I just try and talk about the performance aspect of the system. Besides, many people loose mpg until the ECU can re-learn. And with the new found ponies, people tend to play with the throttle more, thus negatively affecting the mpg.

I also need the low end torque in winter.
Also, it`s more than a grand.

Hi Daniel. Here is the price on the supercharger install on your 2006 Tacoma. $5792.50 plus tax. We will require a credit card number to order the parts. Any questions e-mail me because that is the best way to get in touch with me today. Thanks Daniel. Gary
