I went to a dealer today to inquire about trading up to a 4door TRD sport 2010.
The sticker on my 2008 SR5 ACC 4x4 taco was 26,4000 when I bought it. I paid 23,500. It has 27,000 mi.

The douche bag told me the trade in value was 16,500! I tore him apart and left.

I have 2 questions. #1 - anyone have a more positive experiance trading in a Tacoma?

2 - How much off sticker price are you guys negotiating? The one I want is like 30,000. I figured a good price would be 27,000?

    Thanks

when you trade it in,it aint worth squat.when they clean it up and put it on the lot its worth about the same thing as a new one. i first get the price of the new one,and if i can get it where i want, then i just tell them what i want for my trade.i just act like i could take it or leave it.

    back to bone stock.
i always negotiate trade in value after nailing down the $$ you are willing to give up on the new purchase. well, i have done this ONCE. worked out ok.

    sell it private.?

I agree with aficianado. Why deal with the headache? Sell it private.

Look up the trade in value and private party value on KBB, Edmunds, NADA. See what a reasonable offer would be.

It's in brand new condition so $20K. I guess I could try and post an add in craigslist; it wouldn't hurt
