Those rails get clamped to your bed and the softopper frame mounts to the rails.

 

No. but with the windows out you can slide the whole topper back and secure it.

Ya maybe but I think it would be a pain if you could make them fit if your talking about a c-clamp? The rails mount to the outside of the bed rail. but it definitely would not be as secure as the softopper clamps are notched to clip over the rails....there only $18 bucks nick lol

So a 2nd gen long bed length 73.2 inches, 1st gen bed length 74.4 inches....
You think I can fudge it a little bit on the soft topper or.... I mean it's only an inch... but still an inch may be too short

 

Oh no I would/will buy the clamps the issue is I want to use the soft topper before they would show up sooo gotta fudge it for 1 trip

If it wasn't dark out I would go take some pics of mine for ya. But Ya that's not a problem or something you can notice by eye at all when mounted. Quite a few 1st Gen guys running 2nd Gen softoppers and you cannot tell a difference. I am not totally sure but I wonder if it's the same exact model and they just label it for different gens. The frame is aluminum and uses straps in all four corners for adjustability....it's canvas

Appreciate it but Big Bear is quite the drive from the beach

 

They have this place that you can go to and if you give them a few bucks and put the stuff in a box they will load it in there truck and deliver it any where you want

When the time comes might save you a few bucks. I have no need for them. And pull the trigger already! Quit talking about it and BE about it!
