That does sound like a great ideal. I would do it if i made enough $$$ to afford it. It'll take years just to get my truck were i want while paying for it.

Thanks man, I've had Silver Sky, Super White, Radiant Red and now Black, when its clean, I love it, then the next day I immediately am pissed, especially since I ride MX and every time I go to the track its instant dust covering the truck, such a chore. If I were you I'd go silver sky on the turd gens, the white only looks good on the OR package with some mods.

And thats the thing, clean, they look beautiful! but it only last a couple miles lol my gf talked me into a black but not again. Yeah man i just cannot decide on silver or white. It will be an OR this time, and i will also have some mods. so either will look good. I'm new at this, you think i should post a thread as a poll and people post their white and silvers? or na?? na right  yea na:( :frusty:

Na, just ask, both are great colors from a resale standpoint and maintenance standpoint. The white is a thinner paint since than the silver since it dosent have a clear coat and is a one stage paint.

I haven't seen any broken 8 speeds for what it's worth. They are ok if you can get used to the amount of times it shifts.

I've read through the whole thread this morning, and I can't believe that no one has mentioned that diesel is much more expensive than gas. That fact alone is what made me not even consider the GM diesel. At the end of the day, the pain on my wallet would be the same.

Obviously it is hp/torque at the ground that matters. But I think the point is that with the diesel you don't have to mess around with a regear

there were several people I think... or maybe I am getting threads mixed up. either way that isnt true for a LOT of states. Diesel is cheaper in probably 40% of America.

Thanks for pointing that out. I was only considering locally. Where I am in eastern Mass, Diesel can be almost 50% more than gas. That negates all increases in fuel economy.

yes cost of the fuel and upfront cost and maintenance cost should all be part of the factor if its about money and mpgs.

If your looking for MPG's, here is what my canyon ran this morning on the way to work. To be fair, traffic was VERY light.

I actually got what the window sticker said I should get. I didn't expect that. Before my short lived experiment with the 17 Tacoma, I had a Cruze diesel. It only averaged about 40 mpg.

Noise. Gears and chains are noisy. I loved my 24v Cummins. It was honest, reliable, bulletproof- but it was LOUD.

I don't disagree. I think a chain would be preferred. More than likely the belt replacement would be $600-$800-ish, considering while you're there you might as well replace the water pump.

yep, and the worry between 70k and 100k of it snapping prematurely and costing over 5k for the motor.

I know timing chains break too. but not nearly as often. And usually dont destroy engines.

That's a worry with most vehicles. Early on a lot of Prius critics were lamenting the eventual ridiculously high cost of replacing the battery, that it would negate the benefit.

    Never came to fruition. Unfounded.

The I4 isn't a new motor, just slightly redesigned. It has a fairly reputable track record as a marine motor and in the Jeep Liberty.
