You weren't joking, that is a shitshow....feel bad for all those people that got ripped off. I guess he was handling all the money? I don't think I'd ever be a part of a group buy where someone unaffiliated with the vendor was handling the money, should just go directly to the vendor. Unless I knew the member personally I guess.

When I joined the site and heard about group buys I was telling my cousin how sketchy they could be. I would do directly with a vendor only. Not hard to join the site and build some rep for a couple months then Host a group buy and disappear. Not saying that's what is happening. Only my thoughts on group buys

Agreed. I did the GB for the SPC Light Racing UCAs and it went smoothly, other than the vendor being a little hard to get ahold of at first. But the member that hosted it was merely informing us of a deal being offered by Metal Tech, that if enough people ordered we'd get a 20% discount. We ordered directly through the site. That's the only kind of GB I'll do.

I have hosted group buys before where I have personally held 6 - 10k worth of individuals cash for a good 6-10 months. However I was a well known and respected member of the community. Key people knew where I lived and all the members were armed :).

The length of time to get the product was well understood to all participants as they were custom barrel blanks for bolt action rifles and the vendor only did certain sizes in batches (ie this month they are running .308, then 6mm, then 6.5mm, etc..) and they didn't ship untill the entire order was completed OR they filled a shipping crate.

Hard to judge the integrity of a person in such a large community.

It's easy to do in the precision rifle community. Most guys are used to waiting crazy amounts of time for custom built rifles. Waiting 7+ months for a manners stock is the norm.

The snorkel group by went bad because of a poor attitude and a lack of communication. A little communication with less vague updates would of made a huge difference. If you're running a group buy especially if it's for a profit you gotta treat it like a buisness. In that group buy once he was caught lying all his credibility went out the window and worst case senerios started playing out in everyone's head.

I don't think those count as upgraded UCAs, those look like aftermarket stock replacements. Should look into uniball UCA's like the ones Mike mentioned above, or SPC Light Racing UCA's (more budget friendly). I have the SPC's and so far they've been great.

Here's a link to the SPC UCA's, if you go back to the main "front suspension" you can see the Total Chaos, Camburg and Icon uniball ones that Headstrong sells.
