Is it rubbing and grinding when braking in a straight line or braking when turning at a decent speed?

According to toyota it has nothing to do with the wheels or my alignment. They said the tires tread was choppy from the last vehicles poor alignment.

I'm tempted to call BS on that one. From the small patch of tread I can see in the pics, the tires have a slight feathering, but not a serious cupping that would make them sound like they're howling. Maybe take another picture of the tread?

I'm hoping that those AT's wouldn't make that much noise. haha

I'm also assuming they did nothing to fix the problem. Check the space between the tire and the steering knuckle (the part connected to the upper control arm by the upper ball joint). This is a common place for rubbing when guys with pickups install new wheels and tires.

PS: I have 4+ years experience in a tire, brake, suspension, brake, etc shop.

its things like this where it pays to go to an aftermarket shop that specializes in off road/truck set ups.
Dealers are useless shits usually and don't know a thing outside of 'dealer spec' nor do they ever seem to care to trouble shoot and figure out why something may not be working outside of dealer spec.

Op. This is probably a long shot but did you check to make sure it's not the abs kicking in. I've heard of sometimes it happening with larger tires (normally a good bit larger) but it's a thought.

    What tires?

Just a thought but if its not an actual rubbing sound and its a howling could it be a shifted belt in the tire?

I have seen people with 265/70/17 without any rubbing but maybe because they run 17x8" (FN fx pro wheels) not 8.5"?
