No problems with that, but in this day of road re routing highways etc. it's so easy to miss gems. Sure you will find some by chance and that's great, but you will miss many more.

If you want a good hotel on northern OR coast, Webbs Scenic Surf in Cannon Beach is cheap this time of year. Right on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Tell em Bobby sent you. Low tourist count this time of year too. Next day get fish & chips from Bowpicker in Astoria, one of a kind.

Done this trip probably 3 times including 2008 when i drove my 1966 VW Van from LA to Vancouver Island. Take hwy 1 for sure. Towns like Morro Bay, Pacifica, Jenner, Ft. Bragg, Eureka are all cool. Def go check out Lake Quinalt in Washington. And once you get to Seattle have fun but keep going north. San Juan Islands(Orcas island) are amazing and everyone should put it on their bucket list to kayak up there. Vancouver is my most favorite city for many reasons. Just go there. Safe travels!!

^Vancouver, BC is Amazing. This is one of my favorite cities to visit as long as the weather is right. Such a gorgeous and large downtown area. The drive up to Whitsett is Beautiful as well. The stops in between are fantastic

I had to get use to driving km/l

I've done this trip a few times already and plan to do it mid December. Just plan your route and watch out for certain areas in southern Oregon. There could be snow in certain parts and you'll have to prepare for it. It's going to be a cold trip if you're doing it soon but in February or March, its a toss up. The PNW is mighty brisk right now for Socal blooded folks.

    My favorite POI are :

Santa Barbara = Handlebar Coffee & Pastries / HH @ Benchmark
Pismo Beach = Splash Cafe [Clam Chowder]
PCH Drive & View [Try to plan it during the day]
Moss Landing [Farmers Market & Cafe]
Big Sur = The Tap House / Camp Sites

    Monterey = The Pier / Clam Chowder & Seafood / Compango's Deli / Parker-Lusseau Pastries & Coffee
    Sand City / Seaside

I'll update later on all the other cool POI. I've done this so much I just kind of know where to get off now without looking at a map.

5 Days? The way I drive, it would take me 10 days at least. I like to stop and see everything as I drive.

^One way. . . I have ADHD. . . So I tend to see something out the window and stop. Then I'll be at that stop and venture off into something else.

2 weeks is plenty of time. Before having babies, my wife and I broke in our 2009 Tacoma to take a road trip from SF to Canada. It was really fun. We stopped Oregon for some shopping and stayed at Seattle for a couple of day then headed to Canada. On the 8th day, I drove from Vancouver and back home straight for 18 hours. Then the next day, drove down to southern CA to visit my dad. Man I would love to do that again when my baby and toddler are older.

2 weeks!? I've done this trip in a single day in my Tacoma, multiple times.

I kind of hate I have to google something in my own hometown when you don't even live here to figure out WTH you are talking about. Because instinctively I figured you were referring to the The Red Door in Seattle.

The Pink Door is very neat, Post Alley is the only literal shady alley I would walk happily at night. Love these kinds of places in Seattle ever since I took a Philosophy class where we walked all around Seattle and talked about different interesting things. Post Alley was a great place to learn about Kant.
