Back in the 70's spent 6 months on Oahu and a friend from the ship who was from LA was there with me. His sister married a local there and they handled the protection of a gravel pit and sugar cane field. The wild boar were coming out of the jungle in the evening and tearing up the sugar cane rooting around and they asked me to shoot them. I did and they took a large boar and stuffed it full of local herbs and spices. Then built a huge fire on the beach and let it burn down, dug a hole, put some of the coals in the bottom then threw the boar in and then covered it with hot coals then covered it all up with sand. That evening dug it up and the hide was blackened and burnt, they used hatchets and knives to cut it up in chunks. Peeled the meat from the hide and it was dripping with juices and the most tender and best pork I have ever had. Now I'm hungry!

LOL only thing is sitting is the worst, I can walk eventually even if it is with a hitch in my giddyup. But I want one of those things, just not sure how to make room for the dog! Those tracked vehicles are becoming popular on the plains a lot of the farm equipment now has them. And like that one more than a few ATV's are starting to have them. Hmmm would save wear and tear on the truck on some of those logging roads.....

I bet it does. Hold the heat in. But I'm on solid rock. Only have less than a foot of dirt in most places.

Just got back from the VA , the tibia implant has loosened from the bone and is what is causing my pain . The chief of Ortho will be reviewing my case and will be notified on a decision on or after Dec 2nd

Asked the surgical resident about my knee and when surgery might happen . His reply was yes this requires a revision surgery and depending on case load anywhere from a couple weeks to a few months

That took way to long to diagnose, but I am glad you are closer to an answer Chuck.

It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
Is that good news, bad news, or just news?

What can they do for the tibia implant?

I just spent this past weekend handing out over 400 (conservative estimate) twelve pound frozen turkeys at our local Food Bank.

I'm definitely NOT going near any turkey, cooked or otherwise, in the next few weeks!

5th Grade for me. Remember Mrs. Winberry (elderly lady, wife of a retired judge) and Mr. Archibald (principal) gathering us up at recess and telling us about it while we were out on the field. Sad day indeed.

    Thanks Andy

Its definitely surgery to correct this just need the Chief of Ortho to review my records . As mentioned I won't know the outcome of the surgical panel until Dec 2nd . The surgery would be a few weeks to a couple months from that point in time

What they would do is remove the tibia implant from the bone and replace it with a new one . While inside the knee thru will also debrieve scar tissue also

This is good news as they found the source of the pain and surgery is the only way to resolve it . They will remove the tibial implant with a newer stronger designed implant . they may have to get good bone to re anchor it which means a lot of grinding of the tibia

I was 5, don't recall when he was assassinated but do the funeral. My mother told me to sit down in front of the TV and watch it she told me it was very important that I did, and I sat on the floor in front of our what would now be small black and white TV. I remember the horse drawn carriage carrying his coffin with the flag on it. And her crying the whole time.

I was sitting in Mrs. Carver's 5th grade class when Mr. Thomas, the principal, knocked softly on the door and announced that the president had been shot. A short time later he came back and said simply, "President Kennedy is dead."
