I highly doubt your issues have anything to do with the bulbs and everything to do with a short somewhere else entirely.

Ok so, this time do what I suggested and leave all of the stock shit in for a few months and/or a Pismo trip and see if it happens. That way the finger gets pointed at either the TRS stuff or Toyota. Or yourself if you're holding the pressure washer on electronics for too long. When I wash the engine bay I make sure the blast doesn't sit on any wiring or electrical stuff for more than half a second.

I think the most appropriate tittle would be:

    FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuUUUUUUuuuuuUUUUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Though, I'm not sure if that fits?

Was at Pismo today (first time for this truck) and I was thinking about you again. My truck did not explode or anything. I guess I got lucky.... this time.

LED headlights are not the problem, Manufacturers go through lot of R&D. 2016+ Tacoma's have lot more electronics under the hood compared to 2nd gen. Water and electronics don't mix well.

A lot of R&D? I think not! They find something that will sell and they put it on the market. They do not care if it is legal, safe, or ethical! All they care about is the almighty dollar and getting more! R&D drives up costs.

Whole heartedly disagree. TRS has quite a good rep here of quality products. Sometimes lemons make it through their production line, like anything else, but they aren't just pumping out shit willy nilly and stealing money.

Now, if you wanna talk about every street corner LED bar company that pops up every other week, that's a true story to your comments

I didn't say TRS. But anybody that sells LED replacement bulbs for a reflector housing is at fault. Reflector housing cause to much light scatter with LEDs in them blinding oncoming traffic. Otherwise known as unsafe! But what the hey, you can see where you're going.:smack:

Except 2016's have projectors. And Fog housings are designed to scatter light, not put it out in a beam like a headlight. Sooooooo.

And by making a generalized comment that 'all light companies are at fault' You could also then turn around and say based on that fact, its actually the user at fault for putting a known sub par part on his vehicle. Come on man.

Except consumers have the idea "they sell them so they must be legal" Then the consumers are the ones paying the fines, and they should if they are sticking a LEDs in a reflector housing. And you are responsible for putting known sub par parts on your vehicle furthermore I never mentioned fog lights.
Sooooo... where are we going man?o_O

Again, Im confused by what you're saying here as Devin has a 2016 with Projector headlights, so HIDs, LEDs, halogens they're gonna project light just fine down the road and not blind anyone. And you're not wrong, technically changing just about anything about your vehicle is illegal. But again again, that doesn't make it the retailer's fault for selling stuff. Like I said before, TRS has a pretty good reputation for selling quality stuff here, ao your comment about shoddy LEDs is a slam against them, regardless of how ambiguous you tried to make the comment

You can have projector lamps with HID/LED/Halogen. However the hoods and blinds for each type of bulb are going to be different, the actual projector lens may be as well. Light doesnt refract correctly with the incorrect components and can be blinding to other drivers. Some of the LED bulbs on the market have hoods on them that cut down on the glare but I dont think they actually put out as much light onto the road as the correct halogen bulb.

While you're not wrong, there should be nothing wrong with rinsing the dust off the engine and keeping from stuff building up.

When I video'd myself attacking the engine bay with a pressure washer and hose, there were absolutely no problems... and the truck functioned as normal.

Following a 4x4 trip, I always attack the underside of the truck heavily and flush out the frame rails, cross members, skid plates etc until the water runs clear... I grew up in Alaska, and my family is from the Salt belt in PA and I lived in WV for 5 years... It is just habit to constantly wash the underside of the vehicle due to salt.

I am wondering if it is something underneath the truck, and not the engine bay, as there are a bunch of emissions stuff near the fuel tank.

because the only difference between what I did last time, and this time is that I wasn't anywhere near as aggressive this time and I did the chassis/underbody. When I made the videos, I was purposely trying to find fault, and directly attacking electrical connectors/etc... with absolutely no issue.

To settle the above debate on lights,

I had HIDs in a projector housing, and leds in a projector fog housing. I also have LEDs in my high beams. I don't get flashed, my friends who drive in front of me, etc say I don't blind them- all's well.

Currently the truck has factory lighting except the led fogs.
