Interesting. Never heard of them. Are they CB frequencies or HAM? Buddy of mine down in Texas, who is a HAM geek, tells me on the right frequencies you can use your truck as a repeater to extend the range of your hand helds.

Found the manual for their hand helds:
    http://backcountryaccess.com/wp-con...uct-manual-BC-Link-two-way-radios-english.pdf

They list the weather channel frequencies but don't specify the talk channel frequencies.

I presume they are CB frequencies (HF 26.9650 MHz to 27.4050 MHz)

Also anyone needs some tires? I have 5 305/70r17 MTRKs. Tread is okay. Few have 50% few a little less.

Don't need the right freq just right radios. Basic handheld 2m/70cm radio and then your mobile radio needs to have the cross and repeater feature. Just tune one side of the mobile to the reapeaterbook, say 146.420, on side A and on sibe B will do 442.120(70cm). Tune the handheld to 442.120 and bam. Done.

My dad and I have used both our robes to cross and out of a hole using handhelds at a vet check of a horse race to broadcast to the start/finish 30 miles away.

Ham is cool. Way better then cb in a lot of ways. CBS are nice since you don't need a liscense though and everyone has em.

Yeah I'm brand new to HAM. Just got my Tech license this summer. As of yesterday I'm finally able to use it. haha! I've got a TON to learn.

My buddy from Texas tried to call me via a linked repeater here in Bozeman last night. Unfortunately, neither of us could get that repeater to respond. So it was either offline or no longer valid or something.

I thought about spending the big bucks for an APRS capable system but... I'm not sure I want my truck/radio being tracked all over the place. Cool capabilities granted.

Big bucks on aprs? Hell im using a cheap radio and a semi free android app on an old phone for my APRS. works great.

Its worth it. Lets my family keep tabs when im doing large trips and communicate through it when their is no cell service.

Any one know of a good tire place in Bozeman/Livingston area. Got some new shocks and upper control arms but need alignment. Local shop I usually go to says they don't mess with lifted trucks.

I went to Big O in Kalispell once for a tire rotation. They told me I needed new rotors and calipers, and told me it was unsafe to drive. They wanted to keep the truck to do the work immediately, for my safety.

Apparently they hadn't even looked at the brakes because I had put new rotors and calipers on the previous week.

It might be a completely different staff in there by now, but I won't set foot in that shop again.

Yikes, thanks for the warning. I guess when its time to upgrade my shocks and springs I'll go to M&C tire and Ron's off Meridian. They've been good to me in the past.

I've heard good things about Ron's. I haven't heard either way about M&C.

I hooked my bro with with a set of BFGs at M&C, they were great. They match Costco's tire prices and they get shit done quicker. Had my Silvy aligned at Rons. The did a minor adjustment and didn't charge me much. That thing pulled to left, nobody could fix it :) They didn't mess it up any worse :)
