I recently stumbled across a TTOR thread about the apparent production of portal axles for the Hilux. I remember the company was based in Malaysia, but now the link I had is dead, and I'm having no luck finding more information. I was curious if anyone on here has heard anything about these extending to Tacomas. I don't know much about portal axles other than I know we had them on our Humvees and the gear reduction possibilities are awesome.

Aren't they only for solid axles? I remember from searching is that they benefit more for stronger axles like the Dana 60 and giving it more clearance.

Hilux and Humvees both are independent fronts

Looks like the company name was Maefare 4x4 Centre, but now I'm seeing nothing on their website about portals.

Would be sweet for a taco but absurdly pricey I'm sure.

They will produce a ton of axle wrap when put on a leaf sprung truck. 4 link rear suspension would become a near necessity. They are loud at highway speed. They are maintenance intensive.

They are great on trails that demand ground clearance. I would never put them on a street drive tacoma.

You know those armored personnel carriers used in Afghanistan, they're called MRAP's " mine resistant armored personnel carrier also called a Buffalo or Cougar

The MRAP axles are a portal design and are 10 ton capacity axles that are literally bomb proof and much better design than the rockwells
