Sand in the tank, headlights, or electrical issues, the saga continues for the 4th time? (10/9/18)

This your grease is best friend. I put in on every electrical connection, on bearings, on cv joints, and anything else that might require grease. Hell I've used it as assembly lube(obviously in a thin layers), when I used to build circle track car engines. It really is amazing what this grease can do. Only down side is getting it off your fingers because it tends to cling like gum to hot concrete. This makes it awesome because it won't sling off like regular grease. Why more people don't use it is beyond me. *Not my image

OP I have a friend who has a 2013 Ford edge and she was washing it the other day at a friends house. Afterwards she was going to move it back out in the street and the car electronics had no juice. They went through the normal syptoms of checking it if was the starter, jumped it and all that. After jumping it, she turned it off to see if that fixed it. The car would not start after that again. They eventually took a blower and just blew her whole engine bay dry. After about 20 min it started up on its own like normal. I think there could be an exposed wire in your engine bay that could cause the truck to "safe" itself and shutdown. I agree with others that this truck should be able to handle water almost up to your doors without issue. Is it possible to maybe swap out to another vehicle if they dont solve this soon?

personally for me, I would remove all the aftermarket lights you mentioned, and just run the damn truck stock for a few months and do what you normally do - go to pismo, pressure wash everything, etc..

AND see if it fails there FIRST.

Just one last comment on the LEDs. Correctly done (in projector housing) LEDs bother me less than correctly done incandescents. Sounds like yours are done right

But, did you do an offroad trip and then clean it all like you normally do lol? If it still did it with everything stock then you can start going towards lemon law

Have you been taking it to the same dealer every time an issue happens?
Have they been documenting it? I'd look into lemon law

 

If they can helicopter Mike Sweers to a Hawaiian Island to praise the TRD Pro, I'm sure they can send him out to check out your truck.

 

Cant really lemon law it, the first time they blamed sand in the gas tank, the second time it was after market lights, so I'm assuming dude put the stockers back in before going to the dealer, so maybe this time they can start actuallt looking in to it.

@AFMurse2014 get yourself some Sylvania super ultra white drop in bulbsand rock those for a bit and tear out all the hid and led stuff for at least a couple months AND A COUPLE OFFROAD TRIPS, that way if this happens again they cant blame shit on aftermarket. I'd be willing to bet your truck goes to lemon law, but you definitely need to leave the stock stuff in from now on for that to happen, or you're just gonna be paying out the ass to fix all this shit at some point. There's no way the TRS stuff caused this 3+ times even after they fixed the burnt out stuff

 

I'm severely doubting it was the TRS lights to begin with. Toyota is reaching for anything.

In sure this time they'll blame my husky mats and my BAMF grille.

I'm not waiting around for this to happen again. It's far too expensive.
