Exactly it's a numbers game between trade, new car price and financing, lots of ways they can get you to think you got something and them to still maximize profit.

I average 40. And drive 25,000 miles a year. It adds up. Ha

You know the best way to avoid being ripped off is buying lightly used / private and let some other idiot keep another dealership open ha.

IF you were to save 10 grand off the top of your truck now THAT would actually add up to savings that would offset the poor MPG.

Yep! You can actually get almost the same price or better on a new one over a year or two old used one.

I know a guy that wants to spend $45,000 - $55,000 on a used 3/4 ton diesel truck to "save on fuel". According to him you have to "spend money to make money".

I'm not complaining about the mpg bc I didn't buy the truck for that I just shocked that my stock 2017 6m/t Tacoma gets worse mpg then my lifted on 33s mud terrains 2011 6m/t fj cruiser I also haven't driven the taco a long distance on the highway yet and it's not fully broken in yet am just hoping to see. If it get closer to the fj mpg

Fj was about 13mpg city 15/16 hwy
Taco so far has been about 10/11 city/ very little hwy

its a Toyota truck and that's all the modifications needed
if my new stock 2017 Tacoma got 10/11 mpgs I would be at the dealership I bought it from to check for mechanical problems

I did some research and it looks like the test are on a dyno, so its irrelevant to everyones driving habits, but Toyota probably does its own testing and I don't know how that's done.

Toyota doesn't put the mpg on the window sticker, the EPA does

The EPA site stated that they test a certain percentage of cars but the others that are untested, they take the manufactures test data.

What does it say in the fuel economy section? EPA fuel economy estimate. Your mileage may vary
