I do not see where a real HID H4 replacement bulb was tested?

see the 2 pics head on? no flare on mine like yours. see the pic of the garage's, mine says ALL, meaning HI BEAM/LO BEAM/AND FOGS are on.

    Just FYI :)

Getting back on topic, OP, those headlights are roughly what 99% of aftermarket retrofits end up being, and as such should do you well with a decent set of HID's in them, as they have a projector lenses and should have the proper cutoff. only thing I can see that i dont like is that jankey wiring harness on the back (can probably be replaced) and id run a bead of silicone around them to seal them from water/dust as i doubt the factory seal is any good. i might get a set of these myself and see what happens.

LOL! good point, back on topic. If you go with projectors I would still favor silver housing. My neighbor has... rrrm had, basically a clone of my truck, 2006 Prerunner, 3" lift, blacked out. (during the flood in August after a few beers that dumb donkeys backside decided he REALLY needed some Whataburger and Tacoma's are bullet proof... sunk it!) Anyway he installed those same housings. Just never looked right to me. I always thought they looked good on the white Tacoma's though. I know yours isnt black, but still dark color. If you do decide to go with projectors I would lean towards the silver housings. Just my $0.02 pennies worth.

I see you edited your response.

Oncoming lighting pictures are actually a very tricky thing, I've had plenty of experience. Without directly comparing a modified assembly to a stock assembly side-by-side, the camera can essentially correct for excessive glare based on focus point and essentially cancel it out of the image. Which is why all my photos always compare a halogen light source vs a modified light source at the same time.

An all High/Low/fog image does not do any good in presenting beam control. And definitely does not tell anything being that close to the wall. A HID H4 does not have High/low at the same time. It has a shield that is moveable for non-obstructed high beam. So you are actually running high + fog.

Cut offs will be clean on the projectors, yes. But people have often complained that beam pattern is sub-par and light output is a downgrade from stock. There is more to the fullness of the beam pattern and light output that just cut-offs.

Yeah, I've seen those complaints too, it's the main reason I'm still running OEM headlights. I'm just wondering if the people that said the light output sucks used decent bulbs or the Chinese junk that comes In them?

Correct, cheap H4 HID bulbs do not have HI/LO, real replacement bulbs do. Bulb type is HID H4-4. Each bulb requires 2 ballast, 1 ballast for HI beam, 1 ballast for LO beam. With headlight mod, (stock or with HID) you can make both the HI and LO beam filaments turn on when you turn on your HI beams. Thats just some FYI for you :)

I just went outside and took pics to show you what a real H4 halogen to H4 HID conversion looks like. Its hard to take pics of headlight bulbs when they are ignited, but i think you can still clearly see the 2 seperate HI beam and LO bean HID filaments. 1 pic shows just LO beam ignited, the other shows both the HI beam and LO beam ignited at the same time. Notice the HID filaments are stagered and the souce of light is towards the end of the bulb to mimic an H4 halogen. Again, just FYI.tmp_21682-IMAG1594_12100727766.jpg tmp_21682-IMAG1610_1-1670975583.jpg
