How often do you do routine (scheduled) maintenance

In your glove box there is a book with the words "Warranty and Maintenance Guide" on the cover that takes the mystery out of the whole thing. I know sorry, spoiler alert.

 

Well yeah I know that, I'm one of the anal ones that checks routinely. But shit like flush and refilling the transfer case, engine drive belts and flushing the cooling system, does everyone do that on a regular basis? Just seems expensive

I guess what I'm really asking is how important it is to follow routine maintenance

 

That may seem expensive, but what is really expensive is not doing preventative maintenance.

All those items you mentioned, I did myself and were very easy, especially the serpentine belt, which cost me $17.81 and took me about 20 minutes to replace it.

 

The whole point to routine maintenance is to prevent premature failure.

Maintenance is maintenance! Preventative or to fix something that was not maintained in the first place. So why not take care of it before it leaves you stranded in a blizzard or desert? Not paranoia, just smart.

I'm officially calling this OP on trolling, because if you don't trust what is recommended in the maintenance manual, then you shouldn't own a Tacoma or any vehicle IMHO.
