Hard nose game so far. Nice to see the Oilers with their foot on the gas. Hopefully they keep it there for a full 60. Lots of game left.

Great game by the Kings, that was an exciting last few minutes of the 3rd. Great to have Kopi back!!

 

... let's not forget Budaj who is now tied for the league lead with 11 wins ! Way to hold down the fort so far ... JQ should be back sometime in Jan.

 

Budaj is the man, we couldn't have asked for a better guy in net in the absence of Quick (realistically). When Quick is healthy we'll likely have the best pair of goalies in the league. Stoked to see Budaj doing so well, of course this means he'll probably get looked closely at by other teams come trading time. Seems to be a pattern with the Kings backups.

The contract: Deep down, you know the player’s not worth it. On paper, it’s not even really close. But this guy has been a part of the team forever. He bled for you. Maybe he even helped you win a Stanley Cup or two. And the fans love him. If you’re going to overpay anyone, isn’t this the guy who deserves it?

Recent examples: Dustin Brown. Cam Ward. Bryan Bickell. Dustin Brown. Justin Abdelkader.

Did we mention Dustin Brown? Good lord, that contract is awful.

I would say the GM's and player agents that make these deals are bums. They are wrecking the budgets of the teams they work for. Ultimately the fans are the ones that have to put up with aging bums that litter their hometown-teams roster when these guys hit 35 years of age+ and are raking in 8 million.
I am surprised Andrew Ladd wasnt on the list in that article. Poor Islanders fans...I am sure Tavares is thrilled.
