i havent seen any threads on these two wheels comparison.. yea the semas theres pages worth. how you like the sema setup on the pro?? ?

 

They quoted me nearly identical deal for 17" TRDs as online at Honolulu. I ended up going with the beadlock ones, but both weren't near $300/ea.

 

the new tacoma pro wheels they be expensive at servco .. the 17'' 4runner pro sema wheels way cheaper competive to online prices for sure. im prolly gonna go the sema's

 

If you want to see the beadlocks in person on a truck, LMK. They're not my fav wheel, but they're my favorite for not having to pay shipping

 

TRD Tacoma Pro 16 has a +13 wheel offset

TRD 4Runner Pro 17 have a +4 offset.

Switching to the 17" Pro wheels will reduce your track 9mm or .35" per side- so you lose 3/4 of the "wider track gimmick feature".

Adding a wider tire like a 65/70 profile more than compensates - it even makes your overall track wider.

If really bothersome you could add 1/2 spacers as well.

 

That 9mm is often just enough to push a larger tire size out enough so it does not rub the upper control arm at lock. One reason these and 4runner wheels are so popular.

 

Not sure that's right- reducing track width brings the tire closer to the control arm at lock. Wider track places you in jeopardy of rubbing the outer fender.

The new Tacoma 16" pro wheels are about 50$ more each than the 4runner Sema's.

 

Why do you call this a gimmick? It litterally widens the track by 1" so there is no gimmick about it.

It's advertised as an advantageous feature when really it's just a different wheel fitment. It's a gimmick. 1" wider tracks not going to help.

 

Both these wheels are very nice. The problem I have found with Toyota TRD, PRO etc wheels is they look great for street driving but get banged up very easily while off roading. I have the TRD SE FJ with the TRD dark grey wheels. They took some serious gouges and scrapes off roading and even though they still look good I wish I would have switched them out sooner with the Toyota 17 inch steel wheels and KO2's. Now if I scratch up the wheel i just spray a little flat black paint on them and I am good as new. I do plan on putting different wheels on my TRD Tacoma when I get it next month and have been looking at the bead lock wheels so if I bang up the edges I can just replace them or paint them and won't have to worry about damaging the main part of the wheels.

 

i have a off road ac rthinking about putting the 16's pro wheels on . you happy with yours?

 

is this from only the wheels offset or from the fox suspension playing a role too?

 

It's only the wheels.
The 4 runner wheels are 9mm less offset (about .3 inches) - so you lose about 3/4" of that "wider track" - lol.
It's more than made up for with a 275 tire.

 

Why spend so much money on factory wheels? You can buy much nicer looking wheels for the same price or better and not be driving around on stockers.

I can see if they were a couple hundred used on Craigslist or something.

 

$680 delivered for 4- not going to find much better than that.
Not happy with the chunky look of most aftermarket options and they're more $$$. Wheel is wheels, not sure what makes the aftermarket better your mind.
