The wife got sent to Idaho for a week for some Army Reserve stuff and I've been home alone. She told me to clean up the house while she was gone. I've been working and in general don't do much for domestic duties but I can tidy up easy enough.

The problem, I haven't done any cleaning yet. I went grocery shopping and took care of the animals just fine and picked up the mess I made while she was gone but nothing is noticeably cleaner. I need a starting point, if I could only get one thing done before she gets home, should it be picking up the crap on the floor in the living room and cleaning the kitchen OR sorting the laundry, starting the dirties in the washing machine and putting away the cleans, that are sitting in a big pile in the corner of the bedroom.

The living room and kitchen would be more noticeable but I think the clothes pile would be more appreciated (she hates sorting laundry).

    TW, opinions?

We don't really have people over. We just don't like living in piles of our own crap.

A Zippo and a pint of unleaded regular...;) Having experienced the same over the years, and being traumatized by the ordeal, due to the fact I always wait until the last minute, I'd start at the front of the hooch and do one room at a time. Wife is a stickler when it comes to the kitchen and bathrooms, so I myself usually start there; pick the one you hate doing most and get it outta the way...please report on progress, thuoght I was the only one w/ this malady...:)

Half acre lot. Half of the sideyard is really the neighbors. There's an imaginary line from the edge of the fence back to the street. Sometimes his beer bottles end up in my yard, sometimes I'm playing fetch in his yard. Whatever. When it comes time for spring cleaning I'm gonna push back the brush behind the wood pile 15 or 20ft to the edge of the property line.

If it were my uncle, he'd do the laundry first. He told me the secret to his life was as follows:

    1. Do a load of whites and put a red sock in it. If your girl doesn't have a red sock - go buy one. Cheapest way to never be allowed next to the laundry room again!

    2. When you are asked to stay at home with your child make sure they're stewing in a good stinky diaper that is not on right. You will never be asked to change a diaper.

He has other tips - Although his wife was a saint, I wouldn't recommend his advice.

    :)

Thanks. He comes with me to all the meets and campouts. Good thing he listens, saved us the trouble of having to put up a fence when we moved in:D

I agree with HBMurphy - I did my wifes clothes once and shrunk two of her shirts. She told me never to do her laundry again.
I also used to go grocery shopping without her. I would spend way to much money on crap like frozen burrittos and white castle hamburgers, so
She won't let me go shopping anymore. yeah!

My wife feeds me before we go grocery shopping. Keeps me from buying to much random shit. I went to the butcher shop for dinner last night and ended up spending $50 on meat:rolleyes: 2 ribeyes, 1 big flank steak, 7lbs of boston butt, a bag of smoked pork sausage, some chicken breast, and 1lbs of thick cut slab bacon.
