I'm currently running 255/85/16 on a 3" lift. I'm thinking about chopping the cab mounts.

What tire size should I run after the CMC?

285/75/r16 is the largest you can go, unless you also plan on doing some fender trimming etc.

Yeah, NO! 285's with aftermarket UCA's and positive caster. Probably will still have to do some minor trimming, flatten pinch weld, other than CMC. 35's would require A LOT of trimming. Not all 285's have same specs, so you might consider that?

These are both smaller diameter sizes than what is currently on the truck. Is there anything to gain from these? Current tires actually measure 33.4" according to the manufacturer.

I'm running LR UCAs, so caster is a non issue.

All you are doing is going wider, which is why trimming is required when at full lock. Stay with 255 if you are happy. You might get more of a selection with a different size, but you gain nothing.

    34x10.5x17 is essentially a 265/80/17

Why not stay at 255/85? If you wanna go bigger, I say go 35"s and tub. But really, unless you seriously need the ground clearance or you really need to compensate, the tires you have on now are ideal.

Thinking about 285/75/17. I want bigger, but not prepared to tub.

I ran 285s on my last tacoma they are in my opinion the ideal size in terms of performance and appearance, if that matters. At the upper edge of, but still within, the size/weight before a regear is necessary. Nice wide footprint for wheeling and plenty of sidewall for airing down. my next set of meats will be 285s

I'm at 33.5" now, I'd like the 34.5". I need to find a good tire in that size.

A 285 tire will be a little short of 33". A 315 will be about 34 1/2", but will require a lot of trimming. You still better off with the pizza cutter 255's unless you go shorter/wider with 285. Or about the same height, but wider 315 and A LOT of trimming. Also depends on what kind of tire, mud tires will give you more options over an all terrain.

I was going by the 16" you said you currently have. Better check pricing on 17", they can get crazy. The 285/75/17 is not a common size and the price will reflect it, as will the choices. Cooper St maxx come in that size.
