Thanks, as you mentioned I planned on going straight to get an alignment after. I have heard others say they have had success with this method and it does look straightforward, with only getting the top of the shock to line up when installing, that you would need another person there to help you.

Hope everyone has had a great day so far. We just got home and as always dinner was great, desserts were stellar, and family is still intact! Discussion was lively as was the consumption of alcohol which just makes me wonder if that's what makes the discussion at the table so lively, not in a bad way just a bit more animated. It definitely gets me thinking about what perceptions my kids are getting even though they are busy having their own fun.

Same here, only iced tea is my vice. I try not to have any caffeine, so I like to try to avoid it.

I've had tiny sips of a few alcoholic things, but they all taste like gasoline to me. Always just to shut someone up, never had any intentions of actually drinking regardless of taste. The "try this, you can't even taste the alcohol" gets old. I promise you I will, and the fact that the rest of the drink is 50% sugar will do absolutely nothing to cover it up. So, I don't give into that anymore.

I've only run into 2-3 people who I've even had issues with. I had a bf of a friend make a point of getting up in my face calling me weird. Get over yourself. A co-worker tried to mock me about it and I just shook my head. The only time I lost a friend was when she said she couldn't imagine hanging out with me at a bar or something if I wasn't drinking. I asked her what it mattered what was in my glass and she went "it matters to me." That was the last time I talked to her, come to think of it.

    I'm too old for drama.

My reply to that last one would be "what the fuck do you think I'm gonna do with this soda, eat it with a fork?"

I rarely run into anyone like that, but I never understood it. I couldn't care less if someone drinks, so why should they care that I don't?

In a social setting, I don't mention it unless specifically asked "why not" when I turn down a drink. Sometimes I wonder if that is the best approach when I get asked "are you sure" and say no thanks 3 times over the course of an hour, but I feel it is something that is tough to say without people thinking you are pretentious.

My rule used to be, your car, my music. I had a friend have a girl puke all over his beautiful Integra GS-R when he was taking her home as a favor.

Good lord, that would have warranted a righteous ass whooping.

My sister puked in my father's car many years ago while drunk at age 18

I rarely drink, but when I do, It's a max of 1, maybe 2 at the most, and I stay put.
I have a CDL, and don't need to get into any sort of jam at this stage of the game.

For example, the other night there was a get together for some guys at work who are leaving.
I haven't been in a bar in years. Had something to eat and had one beer and half of another.
Stayed a couple hours, had a good time and left.
When I did leave, I also left 6 beers that were lined up from people that bought rounds. Oh well. Just not into that.

I've never done it this way but I have done it a dozen times with my cheapo spring compressor. It's sketchy but I've never had anything bad happen.
On the other hand most shops will do it for very short money if you remove them from your truck.

OK, it may make sense to pay someone to do and then also have the alignment done after.

I just ordered a new dishwasher and microwave from sears. I've been looking and pricing them out for about 3 months. Pulled the trigger today and got 52% off the price. If anyone is looking for new appliances today's a great day to order. Free delivery too.

Replacing springs without a compressor can be done and it does work. However, when it goes wrong -and it can - it goes very wrong. Back many years ago, I was replacing coils in a 78 Grand Prix without a compressor. Did it before on other cars without incident. This time something told me to drop a piece of rebar through the bucket and lower arm. I was glad I did. When lowering the arm, the spring slipped out with a gun shot bang bending the rebar but not flying into my head... That was the last time I replaced any coil without a compressor. Places that replace struts should be able to get it done quickly, safely, and for not too much money.

Hearing your story is sobering and puts into perspective just how dangerous replacing shocks can be. Thanks for the advice and I hope you and your family had a good Thanksgiving.

When I went to put in my 5100s with toytec coils I decided paying Toytec100 bucks to pre assemble them was ludacriss I figured surely a local shop would love to make a quick 50 but as it turns out most of the firestone/Monroe's/meineke none of those places will even touch parts that are not sold by them :( it turned out to be a huge mistake not paying for them to be assembled from toytec

Some have luck with it some can't get the spring to compress enough. If you're not using super heavy springs the spring conpressors you rent are a little sketchy but work fine if you're careful

Just bought a ps4 as we dropped cable like 6 months ago and just use ps vue/netflix. Been running it in my original ps3 which is probably pushing 8+ years at this point, so time for an upgrade

I drink but I'm a lot like you. One or two and that's good for me. I HATE hangovers and I get them pretty easily, plus when I get them it ruins the whole next day. So 1 maybe 2 and that's usually it. Very much just a social drinker as I hardly ever drink at home.

Good for you guys that have never drank. I have never tried weed or any kind of illegal drugs

My in-laws did that a few years ago. They needed a washer and dryer and found them on Black Friday at half off. It was just like buy the washer and get the dryer for free.
