Whats the biggest led bar people use for ditch lights?

I see most people are using the 3-4inch square pods, but why not something a little bigger, like a couple of ~7inch bars? Would that be too big? Thoughts?

I think for the most part, it's totally up to you based on what you actually need the lights to do/illuminate and how you want them to look. I have seen a ton of different ditch light styles, ranging from a single LED light, to the standard cubes, to rounds lights. To even 10"+ light bars mounted vertically (my personal favorite....).

There are a couple of things to consider though. The first is mounting. Sometimes those smaller light bars (10" range) mount on the sides, but a majority of the ditch light brackets are for a bottom mount light. This means some fab work/custom bracket might be required to get that to work.

Secondly, is what you're trying to light up and what light will suit that. If I were to get ditch lights personally, I would want a wide pattern that illuminates areas more to the side if my truck to see wildlife etc at night. I know I could accomplish that with a single small light, that isn't obtrusive to my view as @ChemDawg mentioned above which is another major consideration.

After those thoughts, it's basically up to you for looks and functionality!

 

I am looking at putting a 4 to 6" light there right now. I just picked up some CBI mounts that will push the light mount out a little farther than some other brackets- something also to consider when is bigger lights may interfere with the hood opening. I think I could extend them out farther with a little modification but right now narrowing down which light to purchase and I will mock up with some chunks of wood I have around to gauge size and how it looks from inside the cab. Waiting on some measurements from the vendor on these.

I agree with you on the mounting point. I think the largest bottom mount one ive seen was 12 inches. I was thinking between 6-9inches would be ideal, but mounted at about a 15-45 degree angle from straight ahead in order to light up any critters that might be thinking of crossing the road.

I have these. Kinda consider them to be ditch lights. They are mounted in my bumper valence in place of turn signals so they are angled out perfectly. Not sure about mounting them on hood ditch brackets tho.. Or anywhere else in your '16.. But being floods with the diffused lenses, they are awesome.

Hard to see as this is all my lights but they do add a lot of light to the sides.
