Thank you for all the birthday wishes! Off to bed soon for work, but had a great breakfast with the family. Now, they are out shopping while I am preparing to go pay for it all. :)

We went with that set up last year and really like it. Here when it's triple digits outside it's nice to to have an oven option that doesn't raise the temp in the house even more. And still works better than our standard oven.

I almost mentioned yesterday how great your dry rub looked  Lady I'm doing the chicken for today doesn't like anything except salt for seasoning, kind of bummed. Had to spend 15 minutes talking her into letting me do just a little applewood smoke. Something is wrong with this picture....

Yeah skin is great when it first comes off a hot bird. After it sits in the fridge not so much. I always peel it off anymore before I put the bird away and call it desert :) hate to waste it. Now I have a strong hankering for glazed ham and beans. Bought a small chunk of ham the other day and sliced a few pieces off for a hot ham and cheese grilled sandwich on asiago cheese bread last night, but not even in the same ball park as cooked ham and beans.

    No deer seen this morning.
I did watch a large Fishercat hunting squirrels.
I used to see a fair amount of Fishers when I hunted the big woods up North, but seeing them this far South in Ct. is pretty cool.
Not so cool for the local turkey population as well as newborn fawns in the Spring.

    Nice. Affordable.
I wish I could wear affordable boots. Seems I do the best with 275ish lowa boots. But i wear them all day everyday.
I have bad flat feet. The reason why I didn't get into the Army when I was young.

I've got a pair of Reebock Tactical desert tan boots with tactical speed lacing system and they're the most comfortable boots I've ever worn . These boots are like running shoes but in the design of a boot

Look good. I've gotten to where I can just look at a boot and tell if they'll work for me. I only wear lace up since I've also blown both ankles and broke one foot. I tried some Danner that were made here and had a good rubber toe cap which I look for but as a plumber I work on my knees alot and the toe cap kinked inside and wouldn't pop out and rubbed my toe raw.
I got them at rei so was able to return almost a year later minus 10 % and got some more Lowas.

So in the vein of being thankful, I was going through some pictures last night from the last year. Instead of a shoebox they are all online now, still kind of strange. Came across one just shy of a year ago that I should be and am totally thankful for. My sons PET scans on the right when he was first diagnosed with advanced stage IV cancer it was in his organs, spine and bones and he was not given a good prognosis to even live. On the left is after chemo and treatment, the lit up areas are normal and 100% cancer free. I redacted any personal information so think it is OK to post it he said he didn't mind when I took the picture on the Onc Doc monitor screen with my cell phone.

Of course it can come back at any time and good chance it will, with a vengeance. Came at a pretty high cost not only in money but side effects and damage from the cancer. And now mental issues and some others which a few are self induced. But putting things in perspective for this I should be and am thankful. Some would call it a miracle, I would certainly categorize it as amazing.

This is the lacing system I've got , makes for quick lacing and they stay secure
