Appreciate the response. A lot of the decision comes down to personal preference. I originally got on to these things four or five rigs ago - looking to replace a busted auto locker in an FJ 62. Looked at the ARB as a system (lines, tank, compressor, relays, switches, seals, etc.) and talked to a bunch of guys. Most were happy with the ARBs but a number were not. Then there was a segment in the middle that loved them but had to fuss wiht seals, lines, relays on a regular basis and were ok with it.

ARBs are great, they work and are competitively priced. Never say a bad word about them. Harrops cost more, but you save cost and install of compressor, tank, etc. and periodic repair. High altitude and low temperature conditions can also freeze a guy up.

Over a full vehicle / product lifecycle, the 10% difference in price was worth it to me.

Yeah, I hear ya it seems like it's a great unit. Wasn't bad mouthing the locker at all just wanted to know if there was a significant difference besides the locking mechanism

Ya, I understand, just trying to stay in the middle.

My partner is the tech guru - been doing Land Cruiser builds for expedition, rock crawling, desert racing, etc. for over twenty years - has probably installed as many ARBs as anyone.

He runs an OEM Toyota elocker in rear of his 100 and Harrop in front. He says he likes the Harrop for simplicity of system in the housing and out (lines, relays, tank, compressor, etc.). As for actuation, there is really only one moving part - the ring magnet that "engages" the locking mechanism to lock up the diff. No air lines, seals, o rings, etc.

Here is a video of the ring/pins

You mean the grinding process in manufacturing? If so, no luck.

'Doh - I am a little dense due to turkey poisoning. No, no photos/video but a brilliant idea.

We have a couple of fronts getting set up (4Runner and GX) next week by Ken Francisco (Zuk) and will ask him to document with photos.

Comments from others have been "no big deal" but will get you some snaps and post them up. Vids if possible :)

Thanks for asking!! Here is a favorite - my partner Georg Esterer (@orangejf45 on IH8MUD) in his 40 Series rock crawler. Second one is our FJ75 shop truck - a 1990 model with 12,000 original miles.

Some more snaps here (we need to update the website with new ones) http://yotalockers.com/pages/customer-rigs

Wasnt the easiest thing to get on...I had to pull on the canvas so tight I thought I was going to break something just to get the snaps on the canvas to snap into place on the frame rails....anyone with a softopper able to tell me if this is normal? A little worried maybe I mounted the rails a touch too wide...

    Looks awesome though :yay:

Mine was the same way. Had to actually have a extra set of hand to get the last buttons. I have not tried it yet but I wonder if re-adjusting the straps would help.

How is your back window? Mine is totally scratched/blurry and you cannot see through it at all so I just have it rolled up for visability.
