IMG_2789.jpg Ive got a 2016 access cab Off Road. I put a SnugTop on it and the factory bed mat.

I use it as a truck and carry stuff in the bed for work.

Its making a thunk every time I load or unload the rear end (like drive fast stop fast on a hill then start moving again). I am thinking its axle wrap possibly? The spring looks like it is convex just sitting there with nothing in the bed. Toyota says they can't replicate the noise.

Does this look like everyone else's rear spring?

Should I upgrade to a Dakar leaf pack? I am kinda considering an OME Lift kit. I rarely 4wheel though and it might look stupid If I don't upgrade the tires right away.

Thats def axle wrap u are explaining.

11yrs of this crap and they cant get their leafpacks right in the US.

All these car ride wanting folks are screwing it up for those who want a damn truck.

    all tore up already
mine were totally flat with nothing in the bed at 6k miles. i did 4 leaf HS AAL and it made the rear end a bit higher and leafs look healthier now(not sure but i dont think they supposed to look like a frown) as for the clunk, i noticed a huge difference just greasing the 2 shafts. i do still get some lash and have some motorcraft yoke lube that should help if ever i get around to pulling the driveshaft

Yeah; mine are fading fast at 8,500.
Axle wrap and axle hop kind of go hand-in-hand.

Is there such a thing as off-road cal-trac / slapper bars for tacomas?

If i get on it and spin the tires the slightest in the rain and snow it immediately hopps like crazy.

Mine has 8600 miles. 3000 from road trips. The rest going up canyons rock climbing or carrying a small load or 700 lb trailer full of 500 lbs or so of work things.

The slopping around exaggerates the transmission wackiness that is "normal on these trucks". Some days I wish the Tundra Pro I originally ordered had actually showed up 6 months after I ordered it.

Like another poster said; "11 years of this crap"...

I bought with expectation that I would need to upgrade leafsprings eventually.
Rassini is the company that makes these leafs.

Wheelers offroad 5 leaf HD pack. Might pick up the rear about 1 inch. I had these on my gen2 and liked them. Plan on them for my truck soon.

Had a similar issue and installed a Icon add a leaf which added 3 shims. Seems to help a ton!
