To my eye the access cab with a long bed or the double cab with a short bed look best. Given that I often park in tight downtown parking, it is DCSB for the win. The rest of you guys can keep your trail limos.

If you like driving a lb good on you but the sub looks way better when tricked out. Just too much box looks too busy. Might as well get a full size truck. It's the same when you compare a 8ft box to a 6ft box which looks better? Most will say a short box

If you got a truck with a wheelbarrow for a bed you might as well have bought a 4Runner or a Prius

So the long box is 12" longer that's it. Now the short box is much easier to turn or fit in parking spots. If you like taking all that room to turn around that's fine also. But let's agree to disagree on the short box long box. Those of us who have short boxes like them and those of you who have long boxes like them. But when trail driving the short is far better than the long box. If you wanna haul stuff the long box is better. Maybe us who have short boxes got so we don't have help haul stuff for our friends or family, and you with the long box have no excuses you can't haul their stuff. Just saying that's all

The only time I've wished for a bigger box was bringing home 12' sheets of drywall and frankly then I wished the space between the wheel wells was wider. The LB wouldn't have made a bit of difference in that situation. The one argument I could make for a LB is if I wanted to put a shell on and sleep back there. But, then I'd have to get an AC because the Off-Road doesn't come in a trail limo edition :p

my choice wasn't between DCSB and DCLB, it was between ACLB and DCLB. Long bed for me is a no brainer. I bought a truck because I need to haul stuff pretty regularly (go figure) and when I'm on the road doing shows 16+ weekends a year I save a ton of money by sleeping at the Tacoma Inn. A short bed would not be comfy to sleep in.

The longer bed= longer camper shell= ALSO longer tracks for the roof rack which is already spaced maximum distance apart which is great for hauling the canoe around, which we take out every week or two spring through fall. A short bed's rack would probably mean also putting a rack crossbar over the cab, which I would rather avoid personally.

Sometimes I wonder if I should have waited til the right price appeared on a DCLB, cause our 2 year old's legs are only going to get longer....but yeah they tended to be way more expensive and so far I have no regrets with the access cab and think its the best looking of the configurations by far anyways.

Short bed is better offroad and is easier to park. I have a trailer for big/long stuff when the need arises.

Payload capacity is higher on the DCSB, and I always ran out of payload capacity long before I ran out of ways to load whatever I was hauling. It's not like a 6' box is capable of hauling anything truly long - so a rack, trailer, or bigger truck would be needed anyway.

6.5 years with the DCSB, and I replaced it with a DCSB. 6.5ft is plenty.:spy:

Double cab long bed for me. Honestly, the one thing I wish Toyota would make is a Tacoma that has 49" between the wheel wells at the bed. This would make hauling sheets of plywood and drywall so much easier. I think the best looking Toyota truck was the 04-06 double cab long bed tundra. That is a perfect size truck.
