I just got a flyer in the mail today titled "Toyota Recall". Initially I thought it was a notice from Toyota about the floor mats / accelerator pedal issue but then I realized it was from Nissan offering $1500 cash back on Toyota trade in's. They're trying to get people to trade in their recalled toyotas for a Nissan. Those Fuggers.

I'd be doing the same thing if I was in marketing for another manufacturer.

Sounds like good business. I would think they were stupid if they didnt try to capitalize on another manufactures misfurtune.

I reserve the right to laugh later when nissan has to recall a crappy frame or failing rear end. Or chevy, the engine block.

Or a failing trans. Been there, done that.

In the long run, Toyota will be fine. You'll get some people who will go for something like this but it's not like you're going to have a mass exodus to other manufacturers. Toyota has legendary quality over the long haul and that will make this just a blip on the radar screen.

^That's a good point: Once Toyota has a resolution in place, don't think they won't be offering incentives themselves.

There all just but hurt that Toyota has been outselling them and That they make more dependible vehicles and now that this pedal issue has occured there going to try and take advantage of it.

They're also taking advantage of a few hysterical people who are more than willing to trade in their Toyotas for much less than Black Book trade in value.

I'll take my Tacoma with a faulty gas pedal (which it doesn't have) over a Nissan, Ford, Jeep, Chevy or Dodge any day of the year. I mean really if a gas pedal is all have to worry about on my truck life is pretty damn good. With my Cherokee I had to worry about brake calipers seizing up on the highway and almost eating the big one...with my Expedition I had to pray the farker would start and then actually shift into second gear when it was raining out. With my Sierra, had to take it to autozone every other month to see what the friggen check engine light was signaling...and then go take in for service so they could replace a $20 part and charge me $150 in labor. So you guys can take your incentives and stick 'em up the tail pipe.

I would rather have my toyota speeding out of control than a Nissan.
If I was to trade my truck in on anything it would be a first gen taco.

In this economy with the worst vehicle sales in decades, why wouldn't the rest of the manufacturers jump on the bashing bandwagon and try to increase revenue? It is after all business, not a grade school slumber party.
