What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

better to remove strut imo. takes about same amount of time and gives you alot more room to work with.

 

Yeah I'm kinda worried about it. I've had the camburgs for a few years now. Was just installing new struts/coils. It may be from when I got in a wreck and that side was hit. And got worse over time. Hmm. I wonder if I should make a ticket with insurance. Because all of that is guaranteed against future problems. Because like I said the other side looks fine...

Welp insurance won't do anything. Talked to my friend whom was the adjuster. Was too long ago and says it would've shown signs shortly after. But for all I know, it's been like this since. I havent really had any reason to think it was bad. And with pressure on it, it doesn't really move. Could the c clips be bad? Or more likely the hole is bad? Either way, gonna see if I can find time to take it apart and look. In the meantime what are my options? Whole new hub?

Should be a tight press fit. id say your probably gona want to find a used spindle and a new slug adaper for the uniball. one of those are worn but its more than likely both of them are.

 

Would you trust that enough to drive it in the meantime? I mean, if it falls through, it'll be on the upside right? Unless the slug/joint snaps completely below the ball.. Idk. Scary the more I think about it.

Edit. Also, are all prerunner spindles the same for 01-04? Will a 4wd one work? But of course without the 4wd hub..

I Plasti Dip my hood

 

I've thought about doing this. Mostly because the glare off the hood is sometimes really bad.

 

I did it more for the look because of my black accents but yes I agree you do get a lot of glare off a silver Hood I also did it for the protection of the paint

 

Protection is my other thought. I have a bunch of tiny rock chips and such on the hood, especially towards the front. Each one is rusted.

 

how much over the fill line for oil is safe? I accidentally put an extra maybe 1/2 qt or so and its a bit over the line. Ive been driving like this for a couple days and nothing is out of the ordinary, I'm just wondering. I also attempted to suck some back out with some hose but couldn't get it down far enough.

 

Youll be fine. I put on 5.5 to 6 qts max

 

FSM calls for 5.5 but most buy the 5 quart jug plus one extra qt. and add all of it so they are running 6qt with no issues. Your good to go.

 

What Fox's are you running?

10"? I noticed they are mounted on top the axle.....I'm thinking after cycling my rear and measuring I want to go 11" 2.0s with resi using the BAMF kit...what was your final valving #s if you don't mind me asking
