I imagine it's going to be a bit of a "trial and error" approach. Full mounting of the new shackle and testing your shackle angle with your off road or average payload. Not a bolt on type of mod

Cleaning out the garage today and came across a new/unused air filter for 2nd Gen 4.0L engine. So if you're local and can use it, it's yours just swing by and pick it up in the North Park area.IMG_2652.jpg

Just grind the heads off and they'll pop through with a light swing.

    Kinda stock
Drill out the center of the rivet through the frame after you grind off the head. Air hammer is kinda messy. Might need to unbolt the bed and lift it up to get the drill in there.

Okay boys! IMG_0383.jpgOne side is done! Gunna work on the other side!
    Got my method kinda down:
-grind flush all four rivet heads
-go from inside the frame and pry bar the hanger off to expose more rivet
    -grind all those flush again
    -drill out 1/4
    -drill in with 1/2 barley
-use 3/8 bolt and vice grips with a 4lb hammer and wedge it inside the hole and then beat the living shit out of it!
-for the bottom two I took my floor jack and my drill to make a ghetto drill press and then went to down drilling the bottom ones out till I have enough room to beat them out!

I'll keep everyone posted if I need further assistance. Just sucks working in rain

w59 transmission. 2wd vs 4wd. what's interchangeable ? have a guy with a bad 4wd unit, and I have a qwd unit. not sure if they are comparable or not.

Like what? Gears, input shaft, output shaft, syncros, shift links, slider bushings? You're not giving us much info to work with

I know there is not tail shafts to swap out, but is it possible to split it behind the shifter and swap the back half to the 4x4 ? I don't fuck with these ever so I know nothing about them.

Yes, the rivets take some whacking with a punch, dont miss, it can hurt ask me how I know, or dont.

Saw you got it, I drill a small pilot through the whole rivet, then drill past the frame with a large bit (use a centerpunch to get the hole centered)

Sometimes one must resort to stronger drinks to allow the BFH to swing more efficiently although much less accurately which in turn makes it less accurate, quite the conundrum I must say.

Light swing for Hercules maybe! The rear ones can be a little stubborn.

Can of worms...there are some differences and still different gear ratios.
